I hope everyone had a happy and healthy (and lucrative) Thanksgiving! We got a Thursday reprieve from the NBA on Turkey Day before last night’s 13-gamer, and tonight we only get three games on the dance card. Bear in mind if you do play cash, ownerships will be super condensed, making the cash lines very tight. Here are the plays for tonight!
TOP PLAY
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (PG – OKC) – $10,600 DK/$10,600 FD
Based on year-long ownership trends, the field is somewhat slow to accept the fact that Gilgeous-Alexander is playing at an MVP level, and there’s a good chance that he’s headed to first-team all-NBA if the Thunder remain somewhat competitive. Tonight I expect him to be highly rostered as the top stud, and the matchup is pristine. SGA is sporting a 32.9% usage rate and a 34.7% assist rate and leads the NBA in drives per game. The matchup can’t get any better than this either, as Houston has allowed the most FPPG to opposing guards, and these are two top-10 teams in pace.
CASH PLAYS
Deandre Ayton (C – PHX) – $7200 DK/$7500 FD
Ayton is really heating up with four straight double-doubles, and his price is slow to reflect this. In the eight games Chris Paul has missed, Ayton has posted an 18.5% usage rate and a 35% rebounding rate. Utah is terrible defensively in the frontcourt, allowing the second most FPPG to centers and the third-highest rebounding rate. Ayton went for 17-10-8 with three blocks against them when they clashed on 11/18.
Josh Giddey (PG/SG = OKC) – $6900 DK/$7700 FD
Even Gilgeous-Alexander’s Herculean rise this year has not deterred Giddey’s fantasy production. Giddey is averaging 15.1 PPG, 7.4 RPG, and 6.0 APG this season as SGA’s “Robin”, and gets the same amazing matchup tonight against the defenseless Rockets. Giddey is a better value on DK with the cheaper tag and not much in the area of defensive stats, but he’s viable on both sites in cash.
VALUE PLAYS
Collin Sexton (PG/SG – UTA) – $4900 DK/$5400 FD
Utah’s minutes were a bit curious last night against Golden State, as Nickeil Alexander-Walker emerged for 30 minutes off the bench while Sexton logged 24 and Malik Beasley only 20. Still, Sexton’s price did not move on DK which makes him a solid cash value with Mike Conley still out. The matchup isn’t good against the Suns (fewest FPPG allowed to guards), but Sexton has a 45.2% assist rate over the last two games where he started.
Kenyon Martin Jr. (SF/PF = HOU) – $4300 DK/$4400 FD
I was on the Tari Eason train last night after his 37 FPS against Golden State the other night, but it was derailed by Martin who put up 21 points and 15 boards against Atlanta in 34 minutes. Alperen Sengun will need to sit again to unlock Martin’s full value, but right now I’m banking on that happening as groin injuries can be tricky to recover from. While OKC’s guard defense has been surprisingly good this year, they allow the fifth highest O-Reb rate and the tenth most FPPG to opposing PFs.
