Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Mike Evans (ankle) cleared to play in Week 9

Mike Evans (ankle) missed practice on Friday. However, the team described it as a rest day and confirmed such by removing him from the injury report. Evans will play in Week 9, barring a setback.

Fantasy Impact

It’s not often that you see a player downgrade from limited to DNP, then turn around and shed their injury designation altogether. However, the Bucs evidently wanted Evans to have a rest day before the game, so here we are. He should be viewed as a fringe WR1 against the Rams this week.

Cordarrelle Patterson’s Week 9 status to be determined on Saturday

Falcons head coach Arthur Smith told the media that he won’t have an update on running back Cordarrelle Patterson’s status until Saturday.

Fantasy Impact

Saturday is the deadline for the Falcons to activate Patterson if they plan to make him active Sunday and, understandably, Atlanta is taking the decision down to the wire. If he plays, Patterson should be viewed as a low-end RB2 in fantasy while Tyler Allgeier is an RB3. However, if Patterson is forced to miss another game, Allgeier becomes a low-end RB2 while Caleb Huntley rises to the high-end RB4 range.

Allen Lazard (shoulder) questionable to play Sunday

Allen Lazard (shoulder) remained limited during the Packers’ practice on Friday. As a result, he is listed as questionable ahead of Week 9 against the Lions.

Fantasy Impact

Lazard missed last week’s game but has looked solid this season, catching 26 passes for 340 yards and four touchdowns. Although the Lions’ corners have done a decent job covering perimeter receivers like Lazard, he still ranks as a strong WR3 option in fantasy football this week.

D’Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) questionable for Week 9 vs. Packers

D’Andre Swift (ankle, shoulder) was limited in practice on Friday. He is listed as questionable heading into Week 9 against the Packers.

Fantasy Impact

It looks like Swift is trending in the right direction, though we won’t get official word on his status until Sunday morning. Even if he is active, the talented back could be on a snap count and therefore should be viewed as an RB2 in fantasy football. Thanks to this favorable matchup against the Packers, fellow running back Jamaal Williams also ranks as an RB2.
