Fantasy Football Injury Updates
Minkah Fitzpatrick officially ruled out for Week 10
Minkah Fitzpatrick (appendicitis) has officially been ruled out for Week 10 against New Orleans.
Fantasy Impact
Fitzpatrick’s absence will definitely be felt by the Pittsburgh defense. On the same week the Steelers get TJ Watt back, they are down their starting safety. Luckily for the Steelers, if Fitzpatrick only has to miss one week it is against the Saints who have struggled to pass the ball effectively in recent weeks.
Jahan Dotson to return in Week 10
Jahan Dotson is set to play against the Eagles Monday night.
Fantasy Impact
Head coach Ron Rivera stated they “don’t expect any setback.” The rookie wide receiver will play for the first time since suffering a hamstring injury in Week 4. The 22-year-old rookie posted 152 yards and four touchdowns on 12 receptions prior to getting injured. Fantasy managers should go ahead and start Dotson with confidence.
Matthew Stafford unlikely to play barring a ‘drastic change’
According to Jeremy Fowler, Matthew Stafford is unlikely to play, barring a ‘drastic change,’ and John Wolford is set to start Sunday’s Week 10 game against Arizona.
Fantasy Impact
The Rams and Cardinals game may descend into a Battle of the Backups, with Kyler Murray also expected to miss Week 10. Wolford would fill the QB position for fantasy managers in dire straits, though he has thrown only 42 career passes with zero TD and two INT. In any case, it will be essential to have a backup in place for the late-game kickoff for those who roster Stafford.
Kyler Murray to test hamstring pregame, McCoy ready to start
According to Jeremy Fowler, Kyler Murray will test his hamstring pregame before a final decision is made, but a source expressed skepticism that he would play in Week 10 against the Rams.
Fantasy Impact
Colt McCoy is ready to go for the start, which could be a Battle of the Backups, with the Rams expecting to be without Matthew Stafford. Should Murray indeed miss the game, the Arizona receivers should be bumped down in rankings, whereas James Conner would be in line for more opportunities. In either case, fantasy managers need to have a plan for the late kickoff time.
