Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Damien Harris unlikely to play Sunday

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, RB Damien Harris, who was questionable with an illness, is unlikely to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

Fantasy Impact

Harris’ absence sets up RB Rhamondre Stevenson to be the Patriots’ RB1 again. The last time Harris missed action, Stevenson had 76 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns.

D’Andre Swift (shoulder, ankle) likely to play but have limited role Week 9

Lions’ RB D’Andre Swift, listed as questionable for Sunday due to shoulder and ankle injuries, is expected to play vs. the Packers, but in a limited role, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

Fantasy Impact

“Limited role” is never what fantasy managers want to hear about one of their players in any given week. In Week 8, Swift played 55% of the team’s offensive snaps, rushing five times for just six yards while catching all five of his targets for 27 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown salvaged his day, but that isn’t something fantasy managers can rely on, given what is projected to be a limited role in Week 9. Fellow RB Jamaal Williams played just 37% of the team’s offensive snaps in Week 8, but he doubled Swift’s carries with 10 and managed to get into the end zone twice. Williams also caught all three of his targets for 23 years. With both RBs active and expected to share the workload, it’s difficult to trust either one this week.

Darren Waller unlikely to play Week 9

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, TE Darren Waller is not expected to play Sunday as he deals with a hamstring injury.

Fantasy Impact

Waller was questionable to play after logging limited practices all week. However, he did so ahead of Week 8 and didn’t play either. Schefter said that Waller is not yet fully healthy, so he will miss another week. TE Foster Moreau will likely see the majority of the action on Sunday in Waller’s place.

James Conner expected to play Sunday

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, RB James Conner is likely to play on Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks but will test his status during pre-game warmups.

Fantasy Impact

Conner was listed as a game-time decision and ultimately may still come down to one. As of right now, though, he is expected to play. RB Eno Benjamin will likely resume RB2 duties if Conner plays, but he could see increased snaps if Conner is not yet fully healthy. The Seahawks have been an improved defense as of late, but with Conner’s touchdown equity, he is usually a safe bet as an RB with touchdown upside.
