10 Players to Buy Low & Sell High (2022 Fantasy Football)

Winning the trade market is at least as important as nailing the draft. Aside from the waiver wire’s massive impact in the season’s first few weeks, trading is the best way to improve your squad quickly. Great buy-low moves can set you up for victory in the short term and down the stretch. Solid sell-high deals can get you big hauls for overachieving players who likely won’t sustain their production.

Let’s take a look at players to buy and sell this week. And be sure to check out our weekly trade value chart with updated values for all players.

Players to Buy Low

Q. Which player are you trying to buy low and why? Also, who are you willing to give up for him?

Tee Higgins (WR – CIN)
I love the idea of trying to acquire Higgins for a couple of reasons. First, he is coming off his bye week, which can make us forget about a player, whether fantasy managers want to admit it or not. Secondly, Higgins has been a disappointment so far this year, with just a single 100-yard game for the season and just three touchdowns. But with the Bengals having two weeks to adjust to life without Ja’Marr Chase, I think there is a good chance Higgins becomes the alpha for the receiving corps here. He could command double-digit targets beginning this weekend as Cincinnati knows they have a razor-thin margin for error, and they need to feature Higgins to win. If I had Allen Lazard or DJ Moore, I would be sending out offers to get Higgins today.

George Kittle (TE – SF)
While George Kittle scored only 2.6 half-point PPR fantasy points last week, he saw only two targets as the 49ers threw the ball only 40.6% of their plays. Over his previous three games, the veteran averaged eight targets and 14.2 fantasy points per game. More importantly, his schedule moving forward has several appealing matchups. If you can sell high on Cole Kmet and land Kittle, that’s a move I would make immediately. The Chicago tight end has a 45.5% touchdown rate over the past three weeks after failing to score a touchdown in his previous 28 games.

Chris Olave (WR – NO)
Chris Olave is a WR1 but is coming off two disappointing fantasy games. The former Buckeye posted just 40 yards on three receptions, which tied for his lowest reception total on the season, on five targets in what was supposed to be a juicy matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 10. That WK62 performance is a part of a three-game stretch in which he has produced just WR50 and WR21 fantasy numbers. The disastrous play of Andy Dalton is handcuffing Olave, but he will get a reprieve with the Saints likely to turn to Jameis Wintson this week to spark the Saints’ offense. With Winston behind center, Olave produced 17 receptions on 29 targets for 268 yards in the first three games of his NFL career. Buy the plunge and acquire the rookie leader in receiving yards while operating in a Saints offense with no other sure-fire threats on the outside.

D’Andre Swift (RB – LV)
Swift had a terrible day outside of getting into the end zone. Even if you didn’t watch the box score, you are likely very disappointed with yet another sub-10-point output from Swift. Odds are good that the Swift manager in your league is thinking the same thing. I’d be happy to send an offer on the low side to see if I can acquire him. The Lions aren’t great, but Swift should be in line for better days as the season moves along. Don’t send the farm, but maybe you can get Swift for a Courtland Sutton or Rondale Moore type of receiver.

Courtland Sutton (WR – DEN)
Sutton started 2022 on a high note but has underwhelmed over the past five weeks as Jerry Jeudy‘s production increased. It’s no coincidence that Sutton’s best game in a month came on a week when Jeudy barely played after suffering an ankle injury early. Even when Jeudy returns, he won’t be 100%, and Sutton and the Broncos get four teams who struggle against opposing wideouts over the next four weeks (the Raiders, Panthers, Ravens, and Chiefs). Given his recent struggles, Sutton may come cheap in a trade and is worth the risk. I’d look to acquire him for someone like Rondale Moore, who’s been putting up points lately but has a bye, the return of Marquise Brown, and a much tougher schedule in front of him.

Players to Sell High

Q. Which one player are you trying to sell high and why? Also, who are you willing to give up for him?

Christian Kirk (WR – JAC)
Kirk is coming off back-to-back top-5 finishes in PPR scoring, which makes this the perfect time to shop him. His massive output Sunday might be enough for some people to put him in the WR1 Tier, but I think there is too much volatility with the Jaguars offense for that to happen. Kirk has four weeks this year where he has finished WR35 or worse, and outside of a Week 13 matchup with Detroit, he has a tough schedule down the stretch. I would start off by looking at Jaylen Waddle, who is coming off a quiet Week 10 performance, and then move to Amon-Ra St. Brown as potential trade targets. Both of these players are in better offensive environments than Kirk but have similar blowup potential.
– Jason Kamlowsky (@JasonKamlowsky)

James Conner (RB – ARI)
With Kyler Murray unable to play, James Conner had a season-high 21 rushing attempts and 22.1 half-point PPR fantasy points. However, his fantasy performance got saved by two rushing touchdowns. Furthermore, the veteran running back has scored under 10 fantasy points and failed to find the end zone in every game since Week 1 until last week. Take advantage of Alvin Kamara‘s poor two-week stretch by flipping Conner and a bench wide receiver for the New Orleans star. He has an excellent fantasy playoff schedule with matchups against Atlanta and Cleveland.
– Mike Fanelli (@Mike_NFL2)

Christian Watson (WR – GB)
After being in and out of the Green Bay Packers’ doghouse and in the lineup due to injuries, Christian Watson displayed the big play potential that made the Packers draft in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Watson erupted in a must-win game for the Packers, producing 107 yards and three touchdowns against the Dallas Cowboys. Fantasy managers still need to temper their future expectations. Aaron Rodgers only had 20 pass attempts, and his favorite wideout Alan Lazard was being shut down by Trevon Diggs. Additionally, the Packers were without Romeo Doubs and Randall Cobb, who is expected to return this week. Watson will have a valuable role in the Packers’ offense, but now is the ideal time to sell the potential of Watson to obtain essential assets for your fantasy playoff push.

DeVonta Smith (WR – PHI)
Smith had an above-average performance on Monday night, which was also his birthday. The Eagles, however, lost the game in brutal fashion in the 4th quarter, and AJ Brown was held to a single catch. That won’t happen very often in the future, so I’m trying to sell Smith before everyone catches on. I’d be happy to send him for an ascending RB like David Montgomery or James Conner. Depending on the trade partner, you might even be able to get more in return as well. Just make sure you send those offers ASAP and before Brown dominates again in Week 11 or 12.
Andrew Hall (@AndrewHallFF)

D’Onta Foreman (RB – CAR)
Foreman and the Panthers are easy to root for, given the season they’ve had, but the road ahead is much more challenging, and they still have their bye in Week 13. Foreman has to face two formidable run defenses the next two weeks in Baltimore and Denver before the Panthers’ bye week. With the fantasy playoffs on the horizon, that’s not a great schedule if you’re fighting for position. Plus, Foreman is not involved in the passing game at all, so if Carolina falls behind, a strong possibility against the Ravens, he probably will cede snaps to Chuba Hubbard. He’s, at best, a flex option over the next few weeks, so if you can move him for RB2 value, I’d go for it. Give me Devin Singletary, and we’ve got a deal.
