Will Tyler Higbee Play in Week 6? (2022 Fantasy Football)

Tyler Higbee has been a productive tight end, despite having no touchdowns and a wildly underperforming offense. He has caught 33 of 48 targets for 290 yards, averaging 9.1 fantasy points per week. However, he popped up on the Rams’ injury report early in the week with an ankle injury that left him sidelined at Wednesday’s practice. It is difficult to find good production at the TE position, so will fantasy managers need to explore the slim pickings for Week 6? Here is what we know.

Tyler Higbee listed as questionable for Week 6

Tyler Higbee (ankle) is officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Panthers.

Fantasy Impact

Higbee returned to practice for the Rams Thursday after showing up on the injury report Wednesday. Higbee and the Rams have a plus matchup against a Carolina defense that is allowing 24.4 points per game this season. Higbee should be viewed as a TE1 for week Week 6.

What the Experts are Saying

Captain’s log. “The year is 2022. I’ve arrived in this strange land where Tyler Higbee is tied with Mark Andrews for the most targets for a tight end.” Yes, it’s true. Higbee has been eye-opening this year. He’s the TE7 in fantasy, ranking ninth in yards per route run (second-highest of his career) and fourth in receiving yards. Higbee is a top-three tight end this week against a Panthers defense that’s 24th in DVOA with the second-highest catch rate and ninth-most receiving touchdowns (tied) allowed to tight ends. Higbee has been listed as questionable (ankle), but he’s expected to play after back-to-back limited practices to close out the week. -Derek Brown

Higbee has at least 9 targets in 4 of his 5 games, he should be a TE1 against a Panthers D that is 15th against fantasy tight ends. -Derek Lofland
