NFL DFS Week 8 Stacking Advice & Strategy (2022 Fantasy Football)

NFL DFS Week 8 Stacking Advice & Strategy (2022 Fantasy Football)

We enter the Week 8 Sunday slate after watching the Ravens beat the Buccaneers on Thursday. That game eliminated some stacks we have been targeting this season. However, we have nothing to fear, as this slate should allow for a few shootouts that lead to serious fantasy points for DFS contests.

As you’ll see below, the stacks we are presenting are a bit more expensive than usual. Paying up for these stacks will still be worth it in order to build your optimal lineup. Additionally, I’ll sprinkle a few cheaper punt plays throughout the article.

An example is the Commanders’ defense, facing a first-time starter in QB Sam Ehlinger. This defense did have back-to-back five-sack games and will be facing a struggling offensive line with a rookie quarterback. They will be the perfect tie-in for the cheap price point to allow you to pay up for the stacks below.

Jalen Hurts + DeVonta Smith + George Pickens (QB+WR – PHI, WR – PIT)

As always, we are chasing a “Konami Code” quarterback, and outside of Josh Allen, no one has been better than Hurts. Hurts has rushed for nine or more attempts in each game and has scored a rushing touchdown in all but two games. The Konami Code is in full effect again in this matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

My favorite way to stack him is with Smith. I could write it all out here, but my teammate Tom Strachan (@NFL_Tstrack) explains it perfectly below:

As for the bring-back pick of Pickens, this pick is based on two stats driving us toward him:

1) Pickens has seen six targets in three of his last four games with the Steelers.
2) Pickens leads the Steelers in receiving yards despite his slow start landing him fourth in targets on the team.

The man is a talented wide receiver; when you can pay down to get that talent, you always should.

Tua Tagovailoa + Tyreek Hill + Raheem Mostert + Amon-Ra St. Brown (QB+WR+RB – MIA, WR – DET)

This game can potentially pop off and create 70-80 points this weekend if everyone is healthy on the Lions’ offense. If D’Andre Swift and St. Brown suit up, we must target this game. Let’s break it down quickly by each player.

Tua facing one of the worst defenses in the NFL with those fantastic weapons is an excellent play if we want to avoid paying up for Hurts this weekend. We want to tie Tua to Hill – the NFL’s current leader in receiving yards.

The Lions’ defense is dead last in years per play allowed. That same defense plays a ton of man coverage, something Hill thrives against in his career. This season, he is sporting a four-yard-per-route run against man coverage as well. The matchup is juicy for this combo and this combination can skyrocket your DFS lineup potential.

Mostert has shocked us this season, especially someone like me who loved Chase Edmonds. The Dolphins have let Mostert take over and run with the opportunity. He was a top-12 running back in YAC in week 7 and has averaged 15 carries and two targets in the last four weeks.

This Dolphins’ offense is leaning on Mostert at the moment to support their backfield. When we tie this production to his bottom-of-the-barrel pricing, Mostert becomes a MUST START against a defense that allows the fourth-most fantasy points to the running-back position.

Our final play from this stack has some contingencies. St. Brown has a slight chance of missing the game. However, the trend has him leaning towards being active this week. Whenever St. Brown plays, he should be considered for your lineup. Jared Goff loves to focus on him and, for the deflated price point, St. Brown could break the slate for us this Sunday.

Kyler Murray + DeAndre Hopkins + Irv Smith (QB+WR – ARI, TE – MIN)

This game is a rematch of the 34-33 win for the Cardinals in 2021. Last year, Murray threw for 400 yards and three touchdowns while adding 30 rushing yards to his line against the Vikings. Since we talked about the “Konami Code”, we must head back to the well with a quarterback who can break the slate.

Pair Murray with Hopkins, who was targeted 14 times for 10 receptions and 103 yards in his first game back last week. This pair should continue their love fest and push your lineup toward its optimal point total.

A high-risk, high-reward bring-back option would be Smith. The Cardinals are one of the worst teams in the NFL at defending tight ends. They have allowed the second-most fantasy points to the position and the most touchdowns. Smith also has a low price point, enabling you to spend elsewhere.
