Another good week last week with Breece Hall paying off big time, Chris Olave doing enough before getting hurt, and Cade Otton showing why I have a bunch of shares of him in Dynasty. We have reached the first week of byes, and it’s brutal. The player pool is very condensed, and it was hard to find some good values, but let’s get to it…

Quarterbacks
DraftKings
Daniel Jones (QB – NYG) vs. BAL $5,200
Daniel Jones has made this column a few times this season, and the last time I had him here in Week 4, he put up 21.64 DK points — mostly by using his legs. Jones’ biggest upside is tied to how many yards he can get on the ground. Last week he only had 37 yards rushing, but he had 10 attempts, tying his season high. No team gives up more points to the quarterback position than the Ravens, and the Ravens rank in the bottom 10 in rushing yards allowed to QBs as well.
Others to consider: Geno Smith (QB – NYJ) $5,700
FanDuel
Jacoby Brissett (QB – CLE) vs. NE $6,600
I had a hard time landing on a cheap value quarterback. In fact, I prefer Daniel Jones over Brissett, but I already wrote him up for DraftKings. This is a tough matchup for Brissett as the Patriots are one of the league’s better pass defenses (8th-best DVOA). However, they are terrible against the run (28th DVOA).
“Wait? That doesn’t make any sense?” you may ask, but hear me out.
Bill Belichick knows the Browns want to run the ball, so he will sell out to stop the run and dare Brissett to beat them through the air. Excluding Week 1, Brissett has put up solid and consistent fantasy numbers, so if you’re not playing Daniel Jones, Brissett is a good pivot.
Others to consider: Daniel Jones (NYG) $6,800
Running Backs
DraftKings
Travis Etienne (QB – JAC) @ IND $5,000
The Colts give up the sixth most receiving yards to running backs on the season (via FTNFantasy), which is right in Etienne’s wheelhouse. Etienne had a season-high in targets last week (5) and played a season-high 53 percent of the snaps (per Sleeper). Adding to his receiving work last week, he averaged 7.1 yards per carry, gaining 71 yards on 10 carries. The Jaguars continue to incorporate him into the offense more and more each week, and with James Robinson‘s recent struggles, this might be the last time you get Etienne sub-6k.
Others to consider: Ken Walker III (RB – SEA) $5,400
FanDuel
Devin Singletary (RB – BUF) @ KC $5,700
This is what we call a leverage play. Everyone will be on the passing attack for both of these teams. They are going to stack it left-right and upside down, and that will lead to much lower ownership of the running games. Singletary is a very risky play. However, he gives you cheap exposure to the highest total game on the slate at 54. Kansas City gives up the second most points, the most receiving yards, and the most receptions to running backs. Singletary is their preferred passing down back due to his pass-protection ability, something rookie James Cook has struggled with.
Others to consider: Tevin Coleman (RB – SF) $5,700, AJ Dillon (RB – GB) $5,900
Wide Receivers
DraftKings
DJ Moore (WR – CAR) @ LAR $5,100
Things have gone south quickly for the Panthers. Their big offseason acquisition, QB Baker Mayfield, has been a bust so far, and now he is injured. Their coach was fired this week. And the team just looks downright terrible on both sides of the ball. So what does that have to do with DJ Moore? Absolutely nothing. Moore is my gut call this week. He has had some success with PJ Walker under center, albeit small sample size, and the Rams rank 22nd DVOA in pass defense so far this season. If DJ Moore is to finally have his breakout game, this is it, and $5,100 is way too cheap for him.
Others to consider: Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ) $5,000, Devin Duvernay (WR – BAL) $4,700
FanDuel
Alec Pierce (WR – IND) vs. JAX $5,900
Pierce announced himself to the world last week, catching eight of nine for 81 yards in a game that was otherwise devoid of offensive production. If you are unfamiliar with the rookie, he is 6-foot-3, 208 pounds, and runs a 4.41 40 time. In other words, he’s big, and he’s fast, and Matt Ryan seemed to look his way whenever he needed to make a play. The Jags’ pass defense is very good (9th DVOA), but all of the Matt Ryan targets will go to two main players, Michael Pittman and Pierce. The volume and his touchdown upside at his size make this a good value play.
Others to consider: Zay Jones (WR – JAC) $5,600
Tight Ends
DraftKings
Dawson Knox (TE – BUF) @ KC $3,400
This is probably a week to pay up at tight end, as DraftKings has done a good job with their pricing, but if I had to choose one, I’d go with Knox. He is playing in the highest game total game, giving you relatively cheap exposure to it. You’ll have to check his status, as he has been limited all week in practice, but it wouldn’t surprise me to see Knox put up a multi-touchdown game this week.
FanDuel
Noah Fant (TE – SEA) vs. ARI $4,900
The Cardinals rank second to last in pass defense DVOA, giving up the most fantasy points to tight ends on the season (per FTNFantasy). Fant had his best game from a volume standpoint last week, getting a season-high five targets, catching three for 49 yards. The Seahawks defense is terrible in its own right, meaning this could be a game similar to what we saw when the Seahawks played the Lions, a ton of scoring. Vegas agrees, as they gave this game a 50.5 game total, the second-highest on the slate.
Others to consider: Robert Tonyan (TE – GB) $4,900
