Monkey Knife Fight Advice: Week 5 (2022 Fantasy Football)

Welcome to Monkey Knife Fight. Monkey Knife Fight is one of the more intriguing entrants in the DFS arena. Instead of the traditional salary cap based contests, Monkey Knife Fight allows DFS players to put their fantasy football knowledge and predictive powers to the test.

They offer fantasy point and stat-based contests. Perhaps the most appealing of all of their offerings is the ‘More or Less’ contests. In these contests, you can choose whether a player will fall above or below totals for a preset combination of two to 10 players. Your win probability obviously goes down with the more players you add, but you receive an increased payout multiplier in exchange.

Since Monkey Knife Fight’s fantasy point and stat-based totals are dynamic, meaning the total, total type, and pairings change throughout the week, it is important to search for favorable and advantageous total pairings to exploit on a daily basis. Ideally, when choosing a total pairing, you want to feel extremely confident on one of the totals and feel strongly enough about the other total to proceed. This week we will take a look at two of the ‘More’ options that stood out the most for Week 5. Note that these are not locked in pairings, and may no longer be offered by the time you log in to make your picks.

Plays of the week

Jeff Wilson (RB – SF): 68.5 rushing yards
This More or Less is the type you want to click More on immediately before the number changes. Yes, Jeff Wilson is averaging 63.8 rushing yards on the year, but he had only nine carries in the Week 1 loss to the Bears. He had double-digit carries in his next three games, never rushing for less than 74 yards. This week he gets a Carolina Panthers team that has surrendered at least 79 rushing yards to every backfield they have faced. Deebo Samuel will get his carries as well, but with Wilson dominating the running back touches against a Carolina Panthers team projected to be trailing for most of the contest, Wilson should get the requisite number of touches for the More to be the correct prediction.

Prediction: More

Nick Chubb (RB – CLE): 87.5 rushing yards
Nick Chubb has been on fire to start the season, never rushing for less than 87 yards and averaging 114.8 rushing yards per game. He has rushed for over 100 yards in two straight games and will be facing a banged-up Los Angeles Chargers defense that has allowed a 100-yard rusher in two consecutive contests. Recent form and Chubb being an integral part of the Browns offensive gameplan regardless of gamescript should help him get to 88 rushing yards this Sunday. There is quite a bit of value in the listed More or Less number as it could be as high as 92.5 and still have the probability be on the More.

Prediction: More

Bonus Play

Cooper Kupp (WR – LAR): 104.5 receiving yards
104.5 is the type of number to fade regardless of the player attached to it, but this may be a special case. Kupp has recorded 108 or more receiving yards in three of four games and will likely continue to do so when the Rams face any semblance of a pass rush. Enter Micah Parsons, DeMarcus Lawrence, and the rest of the Cowboys rotation up front. Los Angeles didn’t magically solve their offensive line problems during the week, as the injuries continue to pile up, and Andrew Whitworth isn’t coming back to save them. Matthew Stafford will be under pressure all game from Dallas’ pass rush and will continue to pepper his top option with targets, especially when under duress. Click More on Kupp for Week 5.

Prediction: More
