Erickson’s Week 6 Rapid Reactions & Top Performers (2022 Fantasy Football)

Erickson’s Week 6 Rapid Reactions & Top Performers (2022 Fantasy Football)

Here are my rapid reactions, top performers, and key fantasy football takeaways from Sunday of Week 6.

Here’s what I’m taking away from what Dr. Deepak Chona said on the Week 6 Sunday night recap show.

  • Kenny Pickett (concussion): New concussion protocol means players will likely miss at least one game.
  • Cameron Brate (head injury): Multi-week absence. Add rookie Cade Otton.
  • Randall Cobb carted to locker room: 4-6 weeks.
  • J.K. Dobbins knee tightened up: More swelling means there might be an issue.
  • Deon Jackson (quad): 1-2 weeks to come back from.
  • Saquon Barkley left game with shoulder injury, returned: Should be fine. Monitor practice reports.
  • Jaylen Waddle (shoulder): Nothing too serious, monitor practice reports.
  • Marquise Brown (ankle): 2-3 weeks if a high-ankle sprain. They play on Thursday. Not good for his availability.

Fantasy Headlines

QB: Joe Burrow/Ja’Marr Chase Making It Look Easy in the Big Easy

The Bengals passing game shined headlined by WR Ja’Marr Chase and QB Joe Burrow. 10 targets, seven catches for 132 yards and 2 TDs for Chase. The buy-low window is GONE. Burrow in his return to Louisiana 300 passing yards, 4 total TDs for 32.5 fantasy points. A homecoming you love to see, unless you are a Saints fan.

RB: It’s Rhamondre’s World, and We Are Lucky to Bear Witness

Rhamondre Stevenson SZN. LFG. 24 touches for 91 yards and two TDs. 25 opportunities for 86% opportunity share. 5 targets and 4 catches. No other Pats RB touched the ball till 4:32 in the 3rd quarter. Fantasy RB1 as long as Damien Harris remains sidelined.

WR: Can’t spell Michael Pittman without alpha.

Michael Pittman WR1 szn is not dead yet. Alpha making alpha moves. 16 targets, 13 catches for 134 yards (28% target share). My GUY. Making old man Matt Ryan look decent throwing the ball 58 times.

TE: Mike Gesicko Mode

Mike Gesicki hauled in the two receiving TDs, six receptions, and 69 receiving yards with no Durham Smythe in the lineup. Minnesota’s defense continues to bleed points to opposing pass-catchers.

Quick Game-by-Game Observations & Takeaways

Ravens at Giants

Fantasy Takeaway: Kenyan Drake blowup game, 10-119-1 rushing

Other notes:

  • Lamar Jackson 3rd straight poor game passing (almost all without Bateman, still had 7-77-0 rushing)
  • Mark Andrews 7-106-1 on team-high 11 targets
  • Saquon bottled up (zero carries over 8 yards) but still 22-83-1 rushing
  • Wan’Dale Robinson 3-37-1 back from injury
  • Saquon Barkley was dealing with his shoulder injury, but it didn’t stop him. 22 carries for 83 rushing yards to go along with three catches on 3 targets (83% opportunity share).
  • Tight end Daniel Bellinger led the team in targets (5-5-38-1) followed by rookie WR Wan’Dale Robinson, who made his return from injury. Both guys scored.
  • Kenyan Drake — not JK Dobbins — led the Ravens backfield in touches (11 to 7). Drake went over 100 rushing yards (119) and scored. Dobbins hit just 15 yards on 7 carries with zero targets. Dobbins’ knee tightened up, per John Harbaugh. Hence, his quiet second half.
  • Mark Andrews went full-on MANdrews. 7 catches for 106 yards and 1 score on 11 targets. Same cannot be said for Devin Duvernay who caught one of just 5 targets for 14 yards.
  • Ravens right tackle Morgan Moses hurt, coming off very slowly, favoring his left leg/ankle. Left the game.

Other notes:

  • Joe Burrow 28/37 for 300-3-0 passing, 4-25-1 rushing
  • Tee Higgins 6-47-0 on 10 targets
  • Joe Mixon 8-45-0 rushing, 4-23-1 receiving
  • Taysom Hill back to earth (5-39-0 rushing, 2/4 for 16 yards passing)
  • Alvin Kamara with 99 rushing yards on 19 carries with six catches on 9 targets for 25 yards to boot. No scores for AK41. Mark Ingram with 9 carries for 46 yards and two targets. Taysom Hill also added 5 carries for 39 yards and completed 2-for-4 passes for 16 yards. He was not targeted. This could change with tight end Adam Trautman hurt during the game.
  • Among a depleted Saints pass-catcher group, Juwan Johnson was second-leading receiver with 6 targets. 4 for 41. Tre’Quan Smith nabbed the TD score and Marquez Callaway saw the most targets (7), but just 36 yards.
  • Joe Mixon only had 8 carries in this game, by far his lowest output of the season. Just 13 touches overall. Still a 76% opportunity share.
  • Bengals WRs shined, headlined by Ja’Marr Chase. 10 targets, seven catches for 132 yards and 2 TDs. The buy-low window is GONE. Tee Higgins also led with 10 targets despite being limited all week with an ankle injury.

Minnesota Vikings at Miami Dolphins

Fantasy Takeaway: Tyreek Hill 12-177-0 on 15 targets, Jaylen Waddle 6-129-0 on 10

Other notes:

  • Teddy Bridgewater 23-of-34, 329 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT
  • Raheem Mostert 14-49-0 (no other RB had more than 2 carries, 3 yards)
  • Justin Jefferson 6-107-0, Adam Thielen 4-36-1
  • Dalvin Cook 13-77-1 (only 24 yards outside 53-yard breakaway)
  • Just 13 carries for Dalvin Cook, who was a complete non-factor in the first half. But he ripped off a 53-yard TD run to save fantasy managers. Alexander Mattison had just one carry and zero targets. Cook caught just one pass on one target. Sell high.
  • Justin Jefferson with the typical day 6-107 on 8 targets, but Adam Thielen nabbed the TD. However, Thielen only caught half of his targets — 4 of 8 — for 36 yards. Sell high. Miami had nobody left with all the injuries in their secondary, which boosted the Vikings’ receiving numbers.
  • Irv Smith Jr. slowly getting his way into the streaming TE conversation. Perfect 4-for-4 on his targets and scored. 7 yards isn’t ideal, but hey that’s tight end for ya.
  • No Myles Gaskin for Miami meant Raheem Mostert RB1 season continued. 14 carries for the older RB, for 49 yards and zero TDs. He was targeted twice and had one catch. Chase Edmonds also had two targets, but just one carry.
  • Big day for the Dolphins WRs with Teddy Bridgewater back in the lineup after Skylar Thompson was forced out with a thumb injury.
  • Tyreek Hill (15 targets, 12 catches for 177 yards) and Jaylen Waddle (10 targets, six catches for 129 yards). Mike Gesicki hauled in the two receiving TDs with no Durham Smythe in the lineup. Minnesota’s defense continues to bleed points to opposing pass-catchers.

49ers at Falcons

Fantasy Takeaway: Brandon Aiyuk breakout game, 8-83-2 on team-high 11 targets

Other notes:

  • Jeff Wilson just 7 rushes for 25 yards
  • George Kittle 8-83-0 on 10 targets
  • Drake London 3-40-0 (3rd straight terrible game)
  • More split backfield for the Falcons in Week 6. Caleb Huntley (16 for 59) and Tyler Allgeier (15 for 51) combined for over 100 rushing yards. Although Huntley got more run in the first half (9 for 36).
  • Pass game was non-existent with Atlanta playing ahead. TE Kyle Pitts did score but caught just 3 passes for 19 yards.
  • Complete opposite for SF receivers. Brandon Aiyuk, George Kittle and Deebo Samuel all saw 10-plus targets and at least 79 receiving yards on 41 of Jimmy G’s pass attempts. Aiyuk was the most productive with 2 TDs, 83 yards and 8 receptions.
  • Game script nuked Jeff Wilson: 7 for 25 and zero catches on 1 target. Happens. FB Kyle Juszczyk saw four targets out of the backfield.

Patriots at Browns

Fantasy Takeaway: Who else? Rhamondre Stevenson 19-76-2 on the ground

Other notes:

  • Tyquan Thornton 2 total TDs for NE
  • Hunter Henry 4-61-1
  • Nick Chubb bottled up 12-56-0, Kareem Hunt 4-12-0
  • Rhamondre Stevenson SZN. LFG. 24 touches for 91 yards and two TDs. 25 opportunities for 86% opportunity share. 5 targets and 4 catches. No other Pats RB touched the ball till 4:32 in the 3rd quarter.
  • 5 different Patriots had at least 4 catches. Bailey Zappe threw for 309 yards, 2 TDs and completed 70% of his passes.
  • Rookie Tyquan Thornton also scored twice, with one rushing TD. Can’t imagine Nelson Agholor has a job if Thornton is healthy. Kendrick Bourne also got hurt in this game.
  • Game script nuked Nick Chubb (12 for 56) and Kareem Hunt (4 for 12). Hunt only saw one target, which is concerning.
  • Amari Cooper with 12 targets per usual, but inefficient — 4 for 44 yards. He did score though, and the volume he is seeing is impossible to beat.

Jets at Packers

Fantasy Takeaway: Breece Hall 20-116-1, ROS RB8

Other notes:

  • Corey Davis 2-52-0, 2nd straight week led Jets WRs in yards
  • 0 targets for Elijah Moore, Garrett Wilson 1-8-0 on 5 targets
  • Packers flat out stink
  • Gang Green! How did they beat the Packers when Zach Wilson completed just 10 of 18 passes for 110 passing yards? Defense (4 sacks) special teams TD (blocked punt) and Breece Hall. 20 carries for the rookie for 116 yards in addition to two catches. Michael Carter had just 7 touches.
  • A.J. Dillon out-carried Aaron Jones (10 vs 9), but the former saw more targets (6 vs 4). Both guys have been colossal disappointments in an offense that frankly is just not that good.
  • Robert Tonyan had a monster day through the air – 10 catches for 90 yards on 12 targets — followed by Allen Lazard (4-76-1, 9 targets) and Romeo Doubs (4-21-0, 9 targets). Randall Cobb was carted off the field with an ankle injury.

  • Parris Campbell 7-57-1 on 11 targets, Alec Pierce 3-49-1 on 7 targets
  • Travis Etienne 10-86-0 rushing, 2-22-0 receiving
  • James Robinson 3rd straight game with under 60 yards, no TD
  • Christian Kirk 2nd straight game with under 30 yards, did have TD
  • Deon Jackson bellcow szn. The 3rd-string running back totaled 22 touches for 121 yards including 10 catches for 79 yards and rushing score. However, he left the game with a quad injury. Philip Lindsay saw 6 touches behind him.
  • Michael Pittman WR1 szn is not dead yet. Alpha making alpha moves. 16 targets, 13 catches for 134 yards (28% target share). My GUY.
  • But rookie Alec Pierce also came up big, catching a the late game-winning TD for 32 yards. Finished with 49 yards on 7 targets. Parris Campbell also earned 11 targets (19% target share) with a score and 57 yards.
  • Travis Etienne Jr. (10 for 86) and James Robinson (12 for 54) split carries, but ETN was more efficient and saw more targets (2 vs 1). Evan Engram led the team with 6 targets for 40 yards on 5 catches.

Panthers at Rams

Fantasy takeaway: Allen Robinson has life! 5 for 63 yards and 1 TD on six targets. Two words. Sell. High.

Other notes:

  • Darrell Henderson led the backfield with 12 carries for 43 yards, adding two catches for 9 yards in 3 targets. Also scored a rushing TD. Malcolm Brown was somewhat also involved earning 7 carries for 15 yards (1 catch for 13 yards).
  • Cooper Kupp: Team-leading 8 targets, 7 catches for 80 receiving yards
  • Christian McCaffrey catching seven balls for 89 receiving yards on 8 targets. Added 13 rushes for 69 yards. However, Chuba Hubbard and D’Onta Foreman combined for 8 touches.
  • QB PJ Walker left with an injury. Carolina is a mess at QB.
  • Sucks for DJ Moore, who caught just 3 passes for 7 yards on 7 targets. Woof.
  • Robby Anderson also pissed off his coaches and left the game. LOL. He wasn’t doing anything productive on-field anyway. Imagine he might get moved before the trade deadline.

Fantasy Takeaway: Kenneth Walker III RB1 SZN: 21 carries for 97 yards and 1 rushing TD. Also caught 2-of-3 targets for 13 yards. DeeJay Dallas had 2 carries and zero targets.

Other notes:

  • Noah Fant was Seattle’s leading receiver — 6 for 45 on 7 targets — as he is separating himself more from Will Dissly. Arizona also continues to be horrible versus TEs.
  • DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett both held to just 2 catches for less than 35 receiving yards.
  • Geno Smith was under pressure (5 sacks) and threw zero TDs. But did rush for 48 yards.
  • Zach Ertz: 10 targets, 7 for 70
  • Rondale Moore: 10 targets, 6 for 49
  • Marquise Brown: 9 targets, 5 for 68 (hurt towards end of the game, ankle injury)

Fantasy Takeaway: JuJu Smith-Schuster breakout game: Despite seeing just 5 targets (14% target share), Smith-Schuster posted 113 receiving yards and one TD on 5 catches.

Other notes:

  • Devin Singletary: The league’s most underrated bellcow. 17 carries for 85 yards and four catches for 22 yards on 5 targets. Zack Moss was inactive and James Cook had 2 carries.
  • Gabriel Davis, no targets no problem. Caught three of six targets including a 34-yd-TD.
  • Isaiah McKenzie just played bad. Caught 2 of 5 targets for just nine yards.
  • MVS caught zero of three targets.
  • Clyde Edwards-Helaire continues to see horrible usage. Zero targets and just nine carries for 33 yards. He’s TD-or-bust ROS. Jerick McKinnon (3 targets) is lapping him as a receiver. And Pacheco saw more targets than him for the first time all season.

  • CeeDee Lamb hangs 68 receiving yards on a 27% target share (10 targets).
  • Michael Gallup second on Dallas with 7 targets, but just 2 catches for 18 yards.
