Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) does not practice Thursday

Fantasy Impact: Brown has not practiced since prior to the Lions’ game in Week 3. With the Lions bye week in Week 6, they may choose to rest Brown and a few of their other injured players to maximize the time they can rest. The Lions have multiple wide receivers dealing with injuries, so the injury report Friday should give a good idea on who will see a bump in targets in Week 5.

Kyle Pitts (hamstring) does not practice Thursday

Fantasy Impact: Pitts has failed to practice all week for the Falcons, and is looking more likely to miss the team’s Week 5 matchup against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The tight end has underperformed compared to expectations so far this season for fantasy owners, recording more than two receptions in just one game so far this season. Parker Hesse and Anthony Firsker would be called on if Pitts is unable to play on Sunday. Monitor his practice activity Friday.

Curtis Samuel (illness) does not practice Thursday

Fantasy Impact: Samuel has been absent from practice all week for the Commanders as he continues to deal with a Non-COVID related illness according to head coach Ron Rivera. The wideout has been one of the main pass-catching options for QB Carson Wentz to this point, leading the team with 26 receptions and a target share of 22% through the first four games. If Samuel does play, he is a viable WR2/WR3 option this week.

D’Andre Swift (shoulder) likely to sit in Week 5, eyes Week 7 return

D’Andre Swift is still nursing a shoulder injury that will likely cause him to miss Week 5’s road contest against New England. The plan for Swift is to return following Detroit’s Week 6 BYE. (Source: Jeremy Fowler on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Swift being out is a clear path to Jamaal Williams being a strong fantasy asset in Week 5. In Week 4, Williams scored 23.4 half-ppr points in Swift’s absence. New England could be more problematic for the Lions as they have allowed 15.5-FPPG (1/2 ppr) to opposing running backs, fourth-best in the NFL. Craig Reynolds and Justin Jackson will likely get sprinkled into the running back mix as well.
