Quarterback
DraftKings
Marcus Mariota (ATL) @ SEA $5,500
Mariota’s rushing gives him a nice floor, and even though he only had 16 yards last week against a tough Rams defense, he still had six carries, so the potential was there. He rushed for 72 yards in Week 1 against an equally tough defense in the Saints, and this week he gets the Seahawks, who rank 30th in pass defense DVOA and have the 25th-ranked Adjusted Sack Rate (per Rotogrinders) through the first two weeks of the season.
Others to Consider: Jared Goff (DET) $5,800
FanDuel
Geno Smith (SEA) vs. ATL $6,300
The Falcons have the 18th-worst pass defense and the 24th-worst overall defense in DVOA and Geno Smith looked good at home in Week 1 versus the Broncos — a much better defense. The Seahawks historically play much better at home, and I expect this game to be no different with the Falcons traveling cross country to Seattle.
Others to Consider: Jameis Winston (NO) $6,900
Running Back
DraftKings
Miles Sanders (PHI) @ WAS $5,500
Don’t look now, but Miles Sanders is finally getting the volume we’ve all been waiting for. While it hasn’t amounted to huge fantasy numbers yet, that might change this week. The Commanders’ defense is ranked second-to-last in rush DVOA and has given up three total touchdowns through the first two weeks to running backs (1 rushing, 2 receiving). Sanders is averaging 17.5 opportunities (carries + targets) through two weeks; in fact, his 35 total opportunities tie him with Derrick Henry and Christian McCaffrey. It’s only a matter of time before that starts to pay off.
Others to Consider: Dameon Pierce (HOU) $5,000
FanDuel
Dameon Pierce (HOU) @ CHI $5,800
The Bears rank 27th in run DVOA and are coming off of a game in which the Packers racked up over 200 rushing yards and allowed Aaron Jones to average 8.8 yards per carry. Pierce got a healthy workload in Denver last week, but the Broncos are a much tougher matchup than the Bears. If he gets 15-plus carries in this one, he will pay off his $5,800 salary and have a good chance to find the end zone.
Others to Consider: Cam Akers (LAR) $5,800
Wide Receiver
DraftKings
Jahan Dotson (WAS) vs. PHI $4,600
Dotson’s touchdown efficiency isn’t likely to continue, having three TDs on a mere 10 targets. However, I expect his target share to rise, starting this week. Head coach Ron Rivera has expressed their desire to get Dotson more looks on offense, and the Eagles game is an excellent place to start, as they rank 20th in pass DVOA and 28th overall. At $4,600, Dotson is a great tournament play with his touchdown upside.
Others to Consider: Jakobi Meyers (NE) $5,000, Chris Olave (NO) $4,500
FanDuel
Chris Olave (NO) @ CAR $5,500
Olave led the league in Week 2 with an astounding 313 Air Yards (per Al Smizzle). To put this into perspective, Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill had 318 air yards combined last week. The Panthers are middle of the pack in pass defense, but quarterback Jameis Winston will continue to air it out, and Olave will stand to benefit eventually.
Others to Consider: Corey Davis (NYJ) $5,800
Tight End
DraftKings
Isaiah Likely (BAL) @ NE $2,800
With nine targets through two games, it’s time to start noticing rookie tight end Isaiah Likely. He got four targets in Week 1, but unfortunately didn’t catch any of them. After a four-catch, 43-yard performance this past Sunday, he is on the cheap tight end radar. The Patriots are 25th in pass DVOA and allowed a touchdown last week to Steelers tight end, Pat Freiermuth.
Others to Consider: Juwan Johnson (NO) $2,900
FanDuel
Juwan Johnson (NO) @ CAR $4,800
Another cheap tight that’s getting targets but no production is Johnson. He has 12 targets through two games, but he only has 83 yards to show for it. When you’re playing a cheap tight end, you’re hoping for a touchdown, and Johnson has as good a chance as any to hit pay dirt.
Others to Consider: Isaiah Likely (BAL) $4,500
