After the excitement that the NFL brought us with the return of football in Week 1, we sit here in Week 2 with more information for our decisions that will lead us to cash in more contests. The slate is a bit different here with two Monday night games that involve big names such as Josh Allen, Justin Jefferson, Jalen Hurts, and more. This change in the slate will lead us to become more creative with how we build our rosters and stacks to take down our contest. Let’s break down the best stacks you can create to take the first step to victory in DFS.
Tua Tagovailoa (QB – MIA) + Chase Edmonds (RB – MIA)
One of these days, we will have an article that doesn’t involve Chase Edmonds. However, today is not that day. Not after the Baltimore Ravens allowed 18 targets to the RB position, which was a league-high. Tua also had 16 attempts that were thrown at 2.5 seconds or later. This stat behooves a talent like Chase Edmonds, who has exceptional pass-catching abilities.
Jared Goff (QB – DET) +Amon-Ra St. Brown (WR – DET)
The projected total points to this game keep creeping up in sportsbooks hitting the 48.5 mark (using Fanduel Sportbook as an example). Combine that total point projection with the fact that Jared Goff loves to hyper-target St. Brown and we could have a stack that rewards us 3x over this weekend. With St. Brown hauling in 8-of-12 targets for 64 yards and a touchdown in Week 1, we can expect more of the same in this game, especially if D’Andre Swift‘s ankle keeps him from playing to his full potential.
Joe Mixon (RB – CIN) + Bengals Defense
Are you probably eating chalk going with the Cincinnati Bengals defense? Yes, probably.
However, they face Cooper Rush with Dak Prescott being out for this game. They already have issues along the offensive line that allowed four sacks last week to Tampa Bay. Remember, pressure leads to sacks and sacks+pressure can lead to turnovers; eat the chalk this week for their low price and enjoy the rewards.
Make sure to pair the defense with Joe Mixon. When you use defense in DFS, you state that the narrative leads to them controlling the game and the clock. Joe Mixon would benefit most from this narrative, especially since he received 27 carries and nine targets last week. Any player who can demand that level of touches, in a game that should see the Bengals leading, needs to be in your lineup.
Bring Back Stacks
Derek Carr (QB – LV) + Davante Adams (WR – LV) + Zach Ertz (TE – ARI)
Derek Carr targeted Davante Adams 17 times in Week 1. Let me say that again for the people in the back. Derek Carr targeted Davante Adams 17 times! We should expect more of the same here in Week 2, with a projected game total of 51.5. I like to bring this stack back with Zach Ertz. The reason is that the Raiders picked up where they left off in 2021, allowing 54 yards and a touchdown to Gerald Everett in Week 1. Until the Raiders prove they can better control the tight end, I will continue attacking the defense from that position.
Carson Wentz (QB – WAS) + Terry McLaurin (WR – WAS) + Jamaal Williams (RB – DET)
Carson Wentz threw the ball 41 times for 313 yards and four touchdowns against the Jaguars. Yes, he had two interceptions, but those stats earned him fourth overall QB in Week 1. We also watched AJ Brown demolish the cornerbacks on the Detroit Lions’ defense. With most DFs players seeing/chasing the big games from Curtis Samuel and Jahan Dotson, we will be looking towards the most talented receiver with Terry McLaurin for duplication of Brown’s performance against the Lions.
As for the bring-back option, Williams is a perfect candidate. Williams saw seven of the Lions’ red zone touches, including all three running back carries inside the five-yard line. With Swift’s ankle injury, Williams could be in store for an even more significant workload this Sunday.
