Monkey Knife Fight Advice: Week 3 (2022 Fantasy Football)

Welcome to Monkey Knife Fight. Monkey Knife Fight is one of the more intriguing entrants in the DFS arena. Instead of the traditional salary cap based contests, Monkey Knife Fight allows DFS players to put their fantasy football knowledge and predictive powers to the test.

They offer fantasy point and stat-based contests. Perhaps the most appealing of all of their offerings is the ‘More or Less’ contests. In these contests, you can choose whether a player will fall above or below totals for a preset combination of two to 10 players. Your win probability obviously goes down with the more players you add, but you receive an increased payout multiplier in exchange.

Since Monkey Knife Fight’s fantasy point and stat-based totals are dynamic, meaning the total, total type, and pairings change throughout the week, it is important to search for favorable and advantageous total pairings to exploit on a daily basis. Ideally, when choosing a total pairing, you want to feel extremely confident on one of the totals and feel strongly enough about the other total to proceed. This week we will take a look at two of the ‘More’ options that stood out the most for Week 3. Note that these are not locked in pairings, and may no longer be offered by the time you log in to make your picks.

Plays of the week

Justin Jefferson (WR – MIN): 102.5 receiving yards
Justin Jefferson was held in check last week by the Philadelphia Eagles but should be back with a vengeance against a Detroit Lions secondary that is still developing into what should be a good secondary in time. Jefferson will draw Jeff Okudah and Mike Hughes on the bulk of his snaps, two corners who, while promising, are going to have their hands full containing a talent like Jefferson in this offense.

Jefferson destroyed the Lions with 182 receiving yards and 124 receiving yards in their last two matchups, and that was when Minnesota was still a run-first team with limited creativity. The More or Less number was at 104.5 earlier this week. Why the number dropped is anyone’s guess. Yes, the number is still high and should be closer to 97.5, but JJ could hit it in the first half with the way he is being utilized this year. Try to get this More or Less in all your Week 3 MonkeyKnifeFight plays and enjoy another explosion from one of the best wide receivers in the league.
Prediction: More

Stefon Diggs (WR – BUF): 90.5 receiving yards
Diggs has been on fire to start the season. However, this week he will face his toughest test yet, and perhaps of the season, with Xavien Howard set to shadow him for the bulk of his snaps. Howard has gotten the better of Diggs in their recent matchups, holding him to 60 receiving yards and 40 receiving yards in their last two matchups. This data on its own is enough for a Less lean. However, there is some risk/hope for a deep hookup generating the bulk of the yardage after Rashod Bateman burned Howard for a 75-yard bomb last week.

Xavien is one of the best in the league, so this is a More or Less that everyone is going to have a definitive lean on. Gabriel Davis has remained limited in practice, and even if he can go this weekend, he is likely to be more decoy than someone the Bills lean on. Diggs should hit double-digit targets against Miami. The last time he had double-digit targets against the Dolphins, he recorded eight receptions for 153 yards and a touchdown. Expected targets and an injured number two make this a More to target.
Prediction: More

Bonus Play

David Montgomery (RB – CHI): 68.5 rushing yards
David Montgomery struggled in Week 1 but was back to his old self in Week 2, piling up 122 rushing yards on 15 carries. This week he gets a Houston Texans defense that has relinquished 183.5 rushing yards per game to opposing backfields. Even though he was held in check against San Francisco in the opener, he still saw 17 carries, putting him at an average of 16 over the first two games of the season.

Monty will hit More if he gets his normal workload against a team that has allowed 4.7 yards per carry. With the Bears actually the favorites in this contest, there is a chance he sees a season high in carries. There is enough value here for this More or Less to be one of your targets this weekend.
