Wednesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
Unfortunately, the bargain arms are lackluster tonight. As a result, gamers are encouraged to select from the high-salary and mid-high salaried trio on the pitcher-rankings table above.
Cash Game Recommendations:
Robbie Ray (SEA) at OAK
Ray has been rolling. According to FanGraphs, in his previous eight starts spanning 49.0 innings, Ray has had a 2.76 ERA, 3.24 SIERA, 1.08 WHIP, 6.2 BB%, 28.2 K% and 28.1 CSW%.
The lefty also has a cupcake matchup tonight. The Athletics are 26th in wRC+ (87) against lefties this year. Oakland has also been 24th in wRC+ (89) since the MLB trade deadline on August 2. So, Ray shouldn't have much difficulty with them tonight. Finally, the betting info is sweet. According to Betting Pros, the Mariners are -210, and the game's total is a tiny 7.0 runs.
Lance Lynn (CWS) vs. CLE
Lynn has been even hotter than Ray. In his last nine starts totaling 56.0 innings, he's had a blistering 1.93 ERA, 2.77 SIERA, 0.82 WHIP, 2.7 BB%, 29.1 K% and 27.8 K%. Further, Lynn has had three superb starts against the Guardians since they roughed him up for eight runs in four innings on July 11.
The matchup isn't great. Still, Lynn's recent success against his AL Central foe is encouraging. Moreover, the betting info is rock-solid. The White Sox are -130, and the game's total is only 7.5 runs.
GPP Recommendations:
Dustin May (LAD) vs. ARI
May hasn't been flawless in his return from Tommy John surgery. Still, he's flashed his upside. The electrifying righty has allowed two runs or less in three of five starts, pitching at least five innings in each start. Sadly, his season high for innings in a start is only six. So, May is a riskier pick on FanDuel, where they award four points for a quality start.
May's dazzling stuff has produced a 28.4 CSW% and 23.8 K%. However, the righty's 11.4 BB% has been less than ideal. Thus, May is a better fit in tournaments than cash games. Thankfully, the betting info is encouraging. The Dodgers are -300.
Top Lineup Stacks
The Dodgers rip lefties and rake at home. LA has a 117 wRC+ against southpaws in 2021. Additionally, the Dodgers have a bloated 115 wRC+ at home. So, they're a compelling stack against any lefty in their home park. However, they're a downright tantalizing stack against Madison Bumgarner. The veteran lefty has run out of gas while approaching the finish line of the 2022 season. In his last eight starts, Bumgarner has had an unsightly 8.08 ERA and allowed 1.91 HR/9. As a result, the Dodgers should feast tonight.
- Road (Kauffman Stadium)
- Value: High
- Risk: High
- Game Type: GPP
- Game Total/Moneyline: 8.0 Runs/MIN -145
Injuries have ravaged Minnesota's lineup. Still, the remaining healthy hitters have a tasty matchup tonight. Daniel Lynch hasn't figured it out in The Show yet. Instead, he's had a 5.32 ERA and allowed 1.97 HR/9 in his previous nine starts. As a result, Minnesota's an exciting GPP stack, providing salary-cap relief, too.
- Mookie Betts has had a sensational season at the dish, exceeding 30 homers and reaching double-digit stolen bases. He's a sparkplug atop LA's lineup and attached to their excellent implied total.
- Justin Turner had a slow start to the year before catching fire. Since May 21, he's had a .395 OBP and 152 wRC+.
- Carlos Correa has raked with his new organization. The veteran shortstop has hit 20 homers with a .365 OBP and 140 wRC+ this season.
- Jose Miranda was a bat-first prospect. He's lived up to expectations. The rookie has a 122 wRC+ in his first season in The Show.
- Gary Sanchez is an attractive power source behind the plate on DK. Since 2019, Sanchez has had a .225 ISO against lefties.
- Corbin Carroll is a steal at DK. Carroll has made a seamless transition from the minors to the majors. The left-handed-hitting outfielder has had a .422 OBP, .282 ISO, 188 wRC+ and three homers in 45 plate appearances against righties.
Wednesday's Hitter Strategy
The Dodgers are the best source of offense tonight. However, they're expensive to stack. Fortunately, the Twins have value options to offset LA's hitters' salaries. And, of course, the Dodgers also have a few cap-friendly options to consider.
