Tonight’s main slate has 11 games on DraftKings and 10 on FanDuel. The latter doesn’t have the second game of the Rays at Blue Jays’ doubleheader on their main slate. Still, the main slate begins at 7:05 pm ET on both providers.
Tuesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
An unstoppable -- when healthy -- ace is the no-doubt headline pitcher tonight. Next, a lefty who's been sharp with his new club is an attractive choice. Finally, two righties are stellar GPP selections.

Tuesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
An unstoppable -- when healthy -- ace is the no-doubt headline pitcher tonight. Next, a lefty who's been sharp with his new club is an attractive choice. Finally, two righties are stellar GPP selections.
Cash Game Recommendations:
Jacob deGrom (NYM) vs. CHC
deGrom hasn't skipped a beat this season. According to FanGraphs, in seven starts spanning 43.1 innings, he's had a 1.66 ERA, 1.65 xFIP, 0.55 WHIP, 2.6 BB%, 41.4 K% and 35.5 CSW%. Obviously, deGrom is a compelling selection against any opponent.
Still, the Cubs are only 16th in wRC+ (98) against righties this year. They've also struck out at a 23.2% clip against right-handed hurlers. Finally, according to Betting Pros, the Mets are -375, and the game's total is only 7.0 runs. So, deGrom is the slam-dunk pick in cash games and awesome in GPPs.
Jordan Montgomery (STL) vs. MIL
Montgomery has been nearly flawless since the Cardinals traded for him. In seven starts totaling 43.1 innings, he's had a 1.45 ERA, 3.05 xFIP, 0.90 WHIP, 4.9 BB%, 23.2 K% and 24.7 CSW%. Montgomery won't stay this hot, but he should cruise tonight.
The Brewers have struggled against southpaws this year, evidenced by ranking 26th in wRC+ (86) with a jaw-dropping 26.0 K% against them. Thankfully, there are enough values/punts at hitter to allow gamers to use deGrom and Montgomery together in all game types at DK.
GPP Recommendations:
Joe Ryan (MIN) vs. KC
Ryan has had substantial home and road splits. The young righty has struggled on the road but dominated at home. In 72.0 innings at home this year, Ryan has had a 3.13 ERA, 4.32 xFIP, 1.04 WHIP, 8.1 BB% and 25.8 K%. Before getting alarmed about Ryan's xFIP, it's important to note he has a 4.48 xFIP overall but a more palatable 3.83 xERA. Thus, he might be an xFIP outlier.
Ryan has a fabulous matchup tonight. The Royals are 25th in wRC+ (89) against righties in 2022. They've also been tied for 20th in wRC+ (91) since the MLB trade deadline on August 2. Finally, the Twins are -196. Therefore, Ryan is a stellar GPP option.
Dean Kremer (BAL) at WSH
Kremer isn't an exciting GPP option. However, the salary relief he awards gamers is welcome for what he brings to the table. In 17 appearances (16 starts), he's had a 3.23 ERA, 4.15 xFIP, 1.23 WHIP, 5.5 BB%, 18.5 K% and 26.2 CSW%.
Moreover, Kremer has been in great form. In his previous six starts totaling 38.0 innings, he's had a 2.37 ERA, 3.34 xFIP, 0.95 WHIP, 3.6 BB%, 19.3 K% and 27.9 CSW%. The matchup is also a plus, with the Nationals tied for 19th in wRC+ (96) against righties. Finally, the Orioles are -145. So, if you're looking to jam an extra bopper or two into your lineup, Kremer is a rock-solid SP2 in GPPs on DK.
Top Lineup Stacks
- Home (Busch Stadium)
- Value: Low
- Risk: Low
- Game Type: Both
- Game Total/Moneyline: Unlisted
The Brewers are using Matt Bush as an opener in a bullpen game. Fortunately, Milwaukee's bullpen has been mid-pack, and they won't be able to only use their high-leverage relievers. Thus, it's a golden opportunity for the Red Birds to light up the scoreboard. Further, the Cardinals are equipped to punish Milwaukee's bullpen, ranking sixth in wRC+ (110) against righties in 2022 and first in wRC+ (136) since the trade deadline.
- Target Field (Target Field)
- Value: High
- Risk: Medium
- Game Type: GPP
- Game Total/Moneyline: 8.5 Runs/MIN -196
The Twins have a delectable matchup against a struggling lefty on tap tonight. Kris Bubic has had a 5.30 ERA and 4.63 xFIP in his last seven starts. In addition, he'll be relieved by one of MLB's worst bullpens. As a result, Minnesota has a juicy implied total which is attractive for DFS.
- Road (Nationals Park)
- Value: Medium(DK)/High(FD)
- Risk: Low
- Game Type: Both
- Game Total/Moneyline: 8.5 Runs/BAL -145
The Orioles are only an average offense. Nevertheless, they're a fun stacking option tonight in a good matchup. Cory Abbott has struggled mightily after moving from the bullpen to the rotation, getting roughed up for a 5.09 ERA, 5.79 xFIP and 2.35 HR/9. Washington's bullpen is also below-average, enhancing the appeal of the Orioles.
- Nolan Arenado is mashing this year. In 550 plate appearances, he's slugged 28 homers with a .250 ISO and 153 wRC+.
- Adley Rutschman has unloaded on righties. The switch-hitting catcher has had a .375 OBP, .228 ISO and 151 wRC+ in his first 288 plate appearances against righties.
- Jose Miranda has excelled with the platoon advantage. The rookie has a .259 ISO and 125 wRC+ against southpaws.
- Brendan Donovan is cheap exposure to the Red Birds from a table-setter spot in the lineup. Further, he's a perfect fit for that gig, tallying a .388 OBP in his rookie campaign.
- Gunnar Henderson has acquitted himself well in his first taste of The Show. He has one homer, one stolen base, a .356 OBP and 129 wRC+ in 45 plate appearances. Henderson has an electrifying combo of power and speed, evidenced by 19 homers and 22 stolen bases in 503 plate appearances in the upper minors this season.
- Kyle Garlick is an attractive lefty-killing punt. Since 2019, he's had a .297 ISO and 134 wRC+ against lefties.
Tuesday's Hitter Strategy
The Cardinals are tonight's most attractive offensive source against Milwaukee's bullpen start. However, the Twins are appealing in GPPs, and the Orioles are also an excellent source of hitters.
