It’s a small MLB DFS slate to begin the week. There are seven games at DraftKings and FanDuel tonight. Further, the slate starts a little earlier than usual, beginning at 6:40 pm ET at both DFS outlets.
Monday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
A righty who's broken out this year is the headline hurler on the table. Max Scherzer was notably absent above. However, he threw just 59 pitches in his only rehab start. So, there's a risk Scherzer will have his pitch count restricted in his first start off of the Injured List (IL). Thus, he's a fade. Finally, the other choices suggested on the table are a pair of pitchers opposing each other in a pitcher-friendly park.

Cash Game Recommendations:
Kyle Wright (ATL) vs. WSH
Wright has blossomed into the pitcher they hoped he'd become when they selected him with the fifth pick in the 2017 MLB Amateur Draft. According to FanGraphs, in 27 starts spanning 164.0 innings, he's had a 3.18 ERA, 3.36 xFIP, 1.15 WHIP, 7.3 BB%, 23.7 K% and 29.8 CSW%.
Moreover, Wright has been excellent at home. In 92.2 innings at home, he's had a 2.82 ERA, 3.24 xFIP, 1.09 WHIP, 6.7 BB% and 25.1 K%. Finally, the betting info is excellent. According to Betting Pros, the Braves are -345. As a result, Wright is the top pitcher across game types tonight.
Wade Miley (CHC) at MIA
Miley is an attractive value pitcher with an outstanding matchup tonight. The veteran lefty has been limited to six starts totaling 28.0 innings this year because of injuries. However, Miley's 2.89 ERA and 3.26 xERA are stellar marks.
And, again, Miley has a mouthwatering matchup tonight. The Marlins are dead last in wRC+ (68) against lefties in 2022. In addition, they've struck out at the highest rate (27.9 K%) against southpaws. Finally, the game's total is only 7.0 runs. So, Miley is an excellent value pick for hitter-heavy lineup builds and a no-brainer SP2 at DK.
GPP Recommendation:
Edward Cabrera (MIA) vs. CHC
Cabrera is opposing Miley tonight, and the Marlins are -145 favorites. So, the betting info is a check in the pros column for Cabrera tonight.
The 24-year-old righty has a 2.70 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 25.8 K% and 30.2 CSW% this season in 60.0 innings. Unfortunately, his 4.10 xERA and 4.22 xFIP have been less impressive. Still, Cabrera's strikeout ability meshes with Chicago's 23.5 K% against righties. As a result, he's an intriguing GPP option at DK. However, he's not as attractive on FD.
Top Lineup Stacks
The Rockies are at home tonight, and they've enjoyed their home digs. Colorado's tied for the highest wOBA (.350) in home games. But, of course, Coors Field is the most hitter-friendly park in MLB by a wide margin. So, it's unsurprising the Rockies have thrived at home. Tonight, they can rake against a struggling pitcher. Jakob Junis has had a 6.75 ERA in seven starts since August 1. Finally, the game's over/under is exciting to get exposure to.
- C.J. Cron has top-shelf power. Since last year, he's had a .228 ISO against right-handed pitchers.
- Ryan McMahon has excelled with the platoon advantage at home, amassing a .349 OBP, .237 ISO and .365 wOBA against righties at Coors Field in his career.
- Joc Pederson has recaptured his stroke against righties. In 331 plate appearances against them this year, he's slugged 20 homers with a .350 OBP, .260 ISO and 145 wRC+.
- Yonathan Daza is a sweet punt on DK with a fantasy-friendly lineup spot in the two-hole. The table-setting outfielder has a .360 OBP in 2022.
- Max Muncy has been cranking up the offense down the stretch. Since August 1, he's had a .356 OBP, .298 ISO and 158 wRC+.
- Joey Bart is cheap exposure to Coors Field. Further, since he was recalled from the minors in early July, he's had a 112 wRC+ in 146 plate appearances. Bart is a DK-specific punt but has appeal in San Francisco stacks as a contrarian choice at FD, too.
Monday's Hitter Strategy
Gamers should get exposure to Coors Field. The pitching options leave plenty of cap space for Colorado's hitters and some of San Francisco's as well.
