Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Michael Thomas (hamstring) likely to play Week 1

Fantasy Impact: New Orleans Saints beat reporter said Thursday, “The way he’s (Michael Thomas) moving at practice I’d be shocked if he didn’t play”. This is great news for fantasy managers who were able to land him in the 7th round of drafts due to his injuries the past two season. The low-risk draft capital, and high-upside talent could make Thomas a league winner for many.

Rondale Moore injures hamstring Thursday

Fantasy Impact: Moore seemed slated for a breakout season in 2022, but that will be put on hold until the results from his MRI come in. He was already dealing with an undisclosed injury in the preseason but avoided the Cardinals’ first injury report Wednesday. Fantasy managers will want to await the results of the MRI, but should expect Andy Isabella to fill in should Moore miss any game time.

George Kittle (groin) considered ”not good”

Per Aaron Wilson of Pro Football Network, George Kittle’s groin injury is “not good” and could force him to miss Sunday’s game against the Bears. One source indicated to Wilson that the injury is serious enough that it would be best if he missed a game. (Source: Aaron Wilson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Not good news for the 49ers or fantasy managers. If Kittle is unable to go in Week 1, Tyler Kroft would likely see the bulk of the snaps at tight end. This would also have an impact on Trey Lance who currently ranks as QB10 in ECR, according to FantasyPros.

Chris Godwin (knee) likely to be game-time decision Week 1 vs. Cowboys

Chris Godwin’s status for Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football will likely come down to a game-time decision according to The Athletic’s Greg Auman. (Source: Greg Auman on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Godwin caught 98-of-127 targets last season for 1,103 yards and five touchdowns before tearing his ACL on December 19 against the Saints. This is not an ideal situation for fantasy managers especially considering “game-time” is Sunday night. Managers that drafted Godwin may be prudent to find another option for Week 1 unless they have the luxury of a backup option that also plays in the Sunday night game or the Broncos/Seahawks game on Monday night. Newcomers Julio Jones and Russell Gage (hamstring) are in line for more targets if Godwin ultimately can’t suit up against Dallas.
