Fantasy Football Injury Updates
Albert Okwuegbunam (lower body) expected to be ready for Week 1
Albert Okwuegbunam missed the Broncos final preseason game due to a lower body injury, but he said he could have played if it was a regular season game. (Source: Ryan O’Halloran on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Okwuegbunam missed the Broncos final preseason game as well as a practice due to the injury, but it does not sound like it will be an issue for him come Week 1. He figures to be the starting tight end for Denver, though he will arguably be the No. 4 option at best for touches behind Javonte Williams, Courtland Sutton and Jerry Jeudy.
Van Jefferson (knee) uncertain for Week 1
Rams head coach Sean McVay said Van Jefferson is “making good progress,” but he is “taking it a day at a time” with Jefferson and his availability against Buffalo. (Source: Sarah Barshop on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Jefferson underwent knee surgery early in August. He will likely be limited even if he plays in Week 1. The Rams offense should continue to run through Cooper Kupp and the run game, while Allen Robinson also plays a big role this season.
Matthew Stafford’s elbow injury ‘could’ be an issue all season
It is being reported that the elbow injury Matthew Stafford is dealing with “could” be an issue all season. (Source: ESPN.com)
Fantasy Impact: Stafford’s Week 1 status is not in doubt. It is likely he will miss a number of practices throughout the season leading to him being listed as questionable quite often. For now, this should not have any huge affect on how you value the rest of the Rams offense. Stafford has played through a number of injuries his whole career.
Russell Gage (hamstring) ‘trending’ towards being able to play in Week 1
Russell Gage is reportedly trending towards being able to play in the Buccaneers Week 1 game against the Cowboys. (Source: Buccaneers.com)
Fantasy Impact: Gage recently returned to practice after missing several weeks due to a hamstring injury. He said he was “feeling well” after practicing Thursday. He figures to compete with Julio Jones for the WR3 role in Tampa Bay, though that could be the WR2 role early in the season depending on the health of Chris Godwin.
