Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Kadarius Toney (leg) expected to be ready for Week 1 vs Titans

Giants GM Joe Schoen said Thursday that he expects Kadarius Toney to be ready to play Week 1 against the Titans according to NorthJersey.com’s Art Stapleton. (Source: Art Stapleton on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Toney picks up where he left off last season, already frustrating fantasy managers with his availability being in question, despite expectations of his playing Week 1. Toney finished last season with 39 receptions for 420 yards and no touchdowns in parts of nine games. Toney had all managers salivating with his 10 reception, 189 receiving yard performance against Dallas in Week 5 last season, but only caught 19 balls for 139 yards across five games, missing seven of the Giants’ final 12 games due to injuries. Toney has the potential to be a fantasy matchup winner every week but it’s hard to trust him to suit up and/or stay on the field from a fantasy manager’s perspective.

Miles Sanders returns to practice

Fantasy Impact: Sanders has been sidelined since August 14th with a hamstring injury. It is great news for fantasy managers to see him back at practice and not missing time as the team prepares for their season opener. Sanders currently ranks at RB33 in ECR, according to FantasyPros.

Isaiah McKenzie not practicing due to undisclosed injury

Fantasy Impact: McKenzie was the star of Bills’ training camp, garnering high praise from coaches and Josh Allen. He currently ranks at WR77 in ECR, according to FantasyPros. Based on the high powered nature of the Buffalo offense, it is possible that McKenzie is a steal in the later rounds of fantasy drafts.

Calvin Austin III placed on IR

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed WR Calvin Austin III on injured reserve Thursday.

Fantasy Impact: Austin has been out of action with a foot injury suffered prior to the Steeler’s first preseason game. The 2022 fourth-round pick did not see any game action during the preseason and will miss at least the first four weeks of the season.
