Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Michael Thomas (hamstring) expected to play Week 1

Michael Thomas, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a hamstring injury, is expected to play vs. the Falcons, according to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Thomas is reportedly playing, but he’s still a risky proposition for fantasy managers given the fact that he missed the entire 2021 season, only played in seven games in 2020, and no longer has Drew Brees under center. Fantasy managers who have other options may want to take a wait-and-see approach with Thomas for Week 1.

George Kittle not expected to play Week 1 vs. Bears

George Kittle is not expected to play vs. the Bears on Sunday due to the groin injury he suffered in practice Monday, according to a report from Erich Branch from the San Francisco Chronicle. (Source: Eric Branch on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Kittle has been trending in the wrong direction for most of the week after reportedly injuring his groin during a practice on Monday, and fantasy managers should have him on their bench this week even if he does end up being active. With Kittle out, Charlie Woerner, Tyler Kroft and Ross Dwelley could all see increased roles, but none is worth starting outside of deeper formats. Brandon Aiyuk and Deebo Samuel could see additional targets from second-year QB Trey Lance with Kittle out.

Drake London (knee) expected to play Sunday

Drake London (hamstring) is listed as questionable but is expected to play Sunday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: London is set to make his NFL regular season debut against the Saints Sunday. Assuming that London does not see limited snaps, he should see a heavy dose of targets in a revamped Falcons’ offense. London currently sits at WR41 in ECR, according to FantasyPros.

Ken Walker (hernia) listed as questionable

Fantasy Impact: Walker is still recovering from a hernia operation he had during the preseason. It seems Walker is trending in the direction of missing Week 1 or at least being limited. Rashaad Penny figures to see the bulk of the carries, which should give Penny a chance to outplay his current RB24 ECR spot.
