Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Chris Godwin (hamstring strain) could miss ‘a few weeks’

Chris Godwin has been diagnosed with a hamstring strain following his leaving Sunday’s season opener early and could be sidelined for a few weeks. However, the team is optimistic that it is not a major injury. (Source: Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This is an unfortunate situation for Godwin, who made a surprising recovery from an ACL tear to be ready to go for Week 1. The wideout was injured on his third reception of the night and was seen limping off of the field. With Tom Brady’s usual No. 2 target now out for at least a couple of weeks, Julio Jones and Russell Gage will see an increased target share while Mike Evans will continue to serve as a rock-solid WR1 in fantasy.

Dak Prescott (thumb) expected to miss 6-8 weeks

Dak Prescott is scheduled to have surgery on his right thumb Monday and is expected to miss 6-8 weeks. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: While the projection is 6-8 weeks for now, a clearer timetable will likely come once the surgery is complete and the recovery process begins. This timetable will keep Prescott out until late October or Mid November, so fantasy managers need to plan accordingly at the QB position. Cooper Rush came into the game Sunday and will likely take over until Dak is back.

Mac Jones dealing with back spasms, chance to play in Week 2

Mac Jones is believed to be dealing with back spasms, and there is a chance Jones can play in Week 2, per Ian Rapoport. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Jones’ X-Rays were negative after the Patriots’ loss to the Dolphins Sunday. His injury diagnosis is probably best case scenario as it still give Jones a chance to suit up in Week 2. The practice reports will be worth monitoring heading into the Patriots’ matchup against Pittsburgh.

Keenan Allen headed for MRI Monday, likely to miss Thursday’s game

Keenan Allen is scheduled for an MRI on his hamstring Monday. With the Chargers scheduled to play Kansas City Thursday, he is likely to miss Thursday’s game. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Allen grabbed the back of his leg while running a route and was ruled out for the remainder of the game shortly after that. If Allen does indeed miss Thursday’s game, Joshua Palmer and Mike Williams will see an increased target share in Week 2. The Chargers should provide a timetable for Allen’s return once they receive the results of the MRI.
