Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Alvin Kamara not expected to play Week 2 vs. Buccaneers

Alvin Kamara, listed as questionable for Sunday due to a rib injury, is not expected to play vs. the Buccaneers, according to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Kamara was a limited participant earlier in the week but was unable to practice on Thursday or Friday, which isn’t the kind of trajectory you’re looking for with an injured player attempting to get ready for a game. Fellow RB Mark Ingram is also banged up but is expected to play and should see a bigger workload as long as he is physically up to the task. But he could share the workload with some combination of Dwayne Washington (also questionable with a hamstring injury), Tony Jones Jr., and the recently signed Latavius Murray.

Mark Ingram II expected to play Week 2, could see increased workload

Mark Ingram II, listed as questionable due to an ankle injury, is expected to play on Sunday against the Buccaneers.

Fantasy Impact: With fellow RB Alvin Kamara expected to miss this game due to a rib injury, Ingram could be in for a bigger workload. Ingram’s own injury throws some uncertainty into the situation, however. With Ingram also banged up, he could share snaps out of the backfield with Tony Jones Jr., the recently signed Latavius Murray, and Dwayne Washington (who is also listed as questionable with an ankle injury after missing Week 1).

Russell Gage expected to play Week 2 vs. Saints

Fantasy Impact: Tampa Bay is deep at WR this season, but with Chris Godwin out and Julio Jones very questionable for Week 2, Gage could see an increased workload against the Saints. He’s a flex play as it stands now, and he could jump up into WR2/WR3 territory if Jones is unable to play.

Kadarius Toney (hamstring) expected to play Week 2 vs. Panthers

Kadarius Toney, who dealt with hamstring tightness late in the week, is expected to play in Week 2 against the Panthers. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: While the report that he’ll be active is good news for fantasy managers, the other concern is that Toney only played seven offensive snaps in Week 1 even though fellow WR Wan’Dale Robinson left with an injury. It’s likely that Toney plays more in this one, but he is a risky start, given his injury and Week 1 performance.
