Top 10 Prospects To Stash: Josh Jung, Corbin Carroll, Triston Casas (2022 Fantasy Baseball)

Another week has passed, and more prospects have gotten the call to make their MLB debuts. Brett Baty got the call the day after this article was posted last week. Drew Waters joined the call-up squad as he made his MLB debut with the Kansas City Royals on Monday. Shea Langeliers, Kyle Stowers, Oswaldo Cabrera, and Stone Garrett were other notable prospects to get the call last week.

Whether you play in a redraft, keeper, or dynasty league, prospects can significantly impact your teams. Which players could be next?

This article series will take a look at prospects that are worth stashing for both redraft and dynasty leagues that can make an impact on your teams sooner rather than later. We will also try to project ETAs on these players to help give you an edge in your leagues on when to add these players.

We will first look at redraft leagues and some prospects worth stashing for this season.

Prospects To Stash for Redraft

  1. Josh Jung (3B – TEX)
  2. Corbin Carroll (OF – ARI)
  3. Triston Casas (1B – BOS)
  4. Gunnar Henderson (SS – BAL)
  5. Jonathan Aranda (2B – TB)
  6. Alec Burleson (OF – STL)
  7. Miguel Vargas (3B – LAD)
  8. Francisco Alvarez (C – NYM)
  9. Kyle Muller (SP – ATL)
  10. DL Hall (SP – BAL)

Graduates

  • Brett Baty (3B – NYM) (Previous No. 2)
  • Drew Waters (OF – KC) (Previous No. 5)

MLB Debuts and Rankings Thoughts

  • Brett Baty made headlines by hitting a home run on the first swing of his MLB career. He has not done much since, with just three hits in 24 plate appearances, including the home run in his first at-bat. Baty will likely hold down the third base spot as long as Eduardo Escobar remains out.
  • Drew Waters just got the call to make his MLB debut on Monday. Since his trade from Atlanta to Kansas City, Waters has dominated, including seven home runs and 13 stolen bases in 143 plate appearances.
  • Josh Jung remains at the top of the rankings this week. He has continued to dominate Triple-A. Jung could immediately give the Rangers lineup a boost. I expect Jung to get the call by the end of August or early September.
  • Reports surfaced this week from Arizona GM Mike Hazen that Corbin Caroll will likely get the call-up by season’s end. It makes sense to see Carroll in September as he can get acclimated with MLB and still maintain rookie status for 2023. Carroll is the top prospect in baseball and worth a stash even if he is several weeks out.
  • Kyle Muller and DL Hall made starts two weekends ago but were optioned after. Muller could still return as a starting pitcher, but the Orioles plan to bring Hall back in the bullpen for the rest of 2022.
