Top 10 Prospects To Stash: Gunnar Henderson, Josh Jung, Miguel Vargas (2022 Fantasy Baseball)

As we press on toward September, more prospects will begin to get the call to the majors. Over the last week, Cade Cavalli, Eguy Rosario, Garrett Mitchell, and top prospect Corbin Carroll all got the call. More could be on the way soon.

Whether you play in a redraft, keeper, or dynasty league, prospects can significantly impact your teams. Which players could be next?

This article series will take a look at prospects that are worth stashing for both redraft and dynasty leagues that can make an impact on your teams sooner rather than later. We will also try to project ETAs on these players to help give you an edge in your leagues on when to add these players.

We will first look at redraft leagues and some prospects worth stashing for this season.

Prospects To Stash for Redraft

  1. Gunnar Henderson (SS – BAL)
  2. Josh Jung (3B – TEX)
  3. Miguel Vargas (3B – LAD)
  4. Triston Casas (1B – BOS)
  5. Hayden Wesneski (SP – CHC)
  6. Matt Mervis (1B – CHC)
  7. Hunter Brown (SP – HOU)
  8. Francisco Alvarez (C – NYM)
  9. Ken Waldichuk (SP – OAK)
  10. Kyle Muller (SP – ATL)
  11. DL Hall (SP – BAL)

Graduates

  • Corbin Carroll (OF – ARI) (Previous No. 2)
  • Yainer Diaz (C – HOU) – Diaz got the call on Monday night. He is worth a pickup in deeper redraft leagues and certainly in dynasty if he is not rostered. Diaz’s bat is legit and he is a very underrated prospect.

MLB Debuts and Ranking Thoughts

  • Corbin Carroll is the best prospect in baseball, and now the world gets to see him on display at the major league level. It has been awesome to see teams more aggressive with top prospects this year.
  • Gunnar Henderson is the next top prospect to get the call. I expect him to join the team in Baltimore at the end of the week for their home stand.
  • Triston Casas is a player I am torn on. A source told me over the weekend he would not be getting the call this year, but there seems to be serious smoke around a call-up for Casas. He remains high on the list despite some hesitation.
  • The Cubs have two prospects now on the list. Hayden Wesneski has pitched well over his last two starts since being traded to Chicago. Matt Mervis is an older pop-up prospect, but he has a .310/.373/.599 slash with 27 home runs between three levels this season. He could get a shot in Chicago for the Cubs to see what they have moving forward.
