NFL Preseason Week 3 DFS Lineup Advice: Friday (8/26)

It’s the final Friday night preseason as we reach the mid-way point of games for week 3. We will see four games to build our roster and win money this weekend in this slate. The biggest tip we can give is that week 3 is the new system version of week 4 in the preseason. This shorter preseason means that in week three, most starters will rest and only a few players of regular season consequences should get significant time. So be prepared to read this article and see a few more “sleeper” players than you are used to seeing. With that said, let’s break down some different plays that could help you win cash this weekend in DFS.

Devin Asiasi (TE – NE) $5,500

The Raiders allowed the third most touchdowns to the tight end position last year while the Patriots offense funneled through that position with Hunter Henry. So this matchup seems like a perfect storm for the Patriots to attack that weakness again. When Asiasi and Jonnu Smith were both playing last week, Asiasi hauled in three targets while Smith went untargeted.

Ameer Abdullah (RB – LV) $5,500

With Kenyan Drake off the roster with a recent cut, snaps are available to all the running backs in Las Vegas. However, Josh Mcdaniels needs to figure out who he wants to rely on for third-down work. Abdullah has shown flashes in this department this preseason, while Brandon Bolden has struggled with injuries. Look for Abdullah to solidify his spot in this committee. The Patriots allowed the eighth most receptions last season to running backs.

Ty Montgomery (RB – NE) $5,500

My “punt” play of this game is Ty Montgomery. He rotated in with Damien Harris and Rhamondre Stevenson in the first half of week two and is looking to beat Pierre Strong out for the third back in this rotation now that James White has retired.

Juwan Johnson (TE – NO) $5,500

Another “punt” play comes from the Los Angeles Chargers vs. New Orleans Saints game. The storm is brewing again for teammate Adam Trautman as a “sleeper” tight end for many analysts. However, Trautman only had 14 more receptions than Juwan Johnson while recording two fewer touchdowns. Johnson is fighting for some love on this roster; this could be his chance to show his worth.

Tony Jones Jr (RB – NO) $5,500

Tony Jones Jr.recorded four carries and three receptions in week two. With the starters most likely resting again due to the advanced ages of Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram, Jones Jr. should see a higher snap percentage against a defense that allowed the third most rushing yards last season.

Drew Lock (QB – SEA) $5,500

It’s rare to get a potential week one starter in the final week of the preseason. However, Drew Lock missed last week with Covid and is still entrenched in a battle with Gino Smith for the starting role. It was reported that although Geno Smith should start the game, Drew Lock will play most of the Seahawks’ final preseason game. Whenever we have a “lock”(all pun intended) in the preseason with snap percentage, we have to take advantage in our lineup.

Penny Hart (WR – SEA) $5,500

With DK Metcalf playing limited time and Lockett following suit, we have to turn to the reserves for a wide receiver against this defense. We know the chances that Marquise Goodwin plays are slim, and Dee Eskridge is struggling with a hamstring injury, so we now turn to Penny Hart. Hart led the wide receiving core in receiving yards last week, and with the options limited and Drew Lock passing for his future in the NFL, we can expect Hart to get more looks than usual. To help Hart succeed in our lineups, let’s remember the Cowboys allowed the seventh most yards to the wide receiver position.

Khalil Shakir (WR – BUF) $5,500

Shakir caught three receptions for 59 yards on three targets in Buffalo’s last preseason game. He now has eight targets and 151 yards this preseason for Buffalo. There have been reports that he has taken snaps on the outside (away from his usual slot receiver role). The Bills see a future in Shakir, who dropped to them in the fifth round in this year’s draft. With their wide receiver room full of talent ahead of Shakir, he can see a high snap percentage against lesser talent in this preseason game.
