Tonight’s MLB DFS main slate is bursting at the seams. It features 13 games and begins at 7:05 pm ET at DraftKings and FanDuel. The massive player pool might feel daunting to navigate at a glance, but this piece will help you narrow the selections to a palatable number of options to mix into lineups.
Tuesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
The table might be surprising for DFS gamers. As was stated in the intro, there are a ton of stellar hurlers to choose from. However, one lefty has a mouthwatering matchup and a desirable salary. Meanwhile, the other two pitchers on the table are underpriced at DK, making them excellent SP2 selections.

Cash Game Recommendations:
Robbie Ray (SEA) at LAA
Sadly, Ray hasn't duplicated his 2021 AL Cy Young Award-winning form. Nevertheless, he's been stellar in the summer months. According to FanGraphs, in Ray's previous 13 starts spanning 75.1 innings, he's had a 3.23 ERA, 3.39 xFIP, 3.44 SIERA, 1.18 WHIP and 28.7 K%.
Thankfully, Ray should continue humming along tonight. The Angels are tied for 27th in wRC+ (82) with an exploitable 24.3 K% against lefties. Additionally, the betting info is favorable. According to Betting Pros, the Mariners are -165, and the game's total is just 7.5 runs.
Justin Steele (CHC) at WSH
Steele has successfully transitioned to a full-time starter this year after splitting time between the rotation and bullpen. In 21 starts totaling 101.2 innings, he's had a 3.63 ERA, 3.64 xERA, 3.55 xFIP, 1.41 WHIP and 23.7 K%. In addition, Steele has had a sparkling 2.48 ERA, 3.37 xFIP, 1.30 WHIP and 22.6 K% in his last 11 starts.
Steele has a soft matchup tonight. The Nationals are 24th in wRC+ (90) against lefties in 2022. Thus, the Cubs are -160. Steele is the no-brainer SP2 in cash games on DK. He's also an excellent selection in GPPs.
GPP Recommendations:
Jose Quintana (STL) vs. COL
Quintana and the Cardinals are commanding -225 favorites. So, that's an outstanding starting point. The game's total of a paltry 7.5 runs is sweet, too. And, of course, facing the Rockies out of their mile-high confines is optimal. The Rockies are 26th in wRC+ (82) on the road.
Yet, Quintana isn't merely a matchup and betting-info-driven suggestion. He's pitched well. In his last 13 starts totaling 69.0 innings, he's had a 3.91 ERA, 3.46 xFIP, 1.28 WHIP, 6.3 BB% and 22.2 K%. It looked like Quintana was washed up entering the year. Instead, the crafty southpaw has turned back the clock. As a result, he's a nifty value in GPPs, allowing gamers to jam boppers into their lineup.
Top Lineup Stacks
The Nationals' insistence in laughably continuing to trot out Patrick Corbin is the DFS gift that keeps on giving. He's rewarded Washington's incompetence with a 7.07 ERA, 1.86 WHIP and 2.25 HR/9 in his previous 12 starts. Gamers who fade the Cubs against washed-up Corbin are doing so at their peril.
- Home (Target Field)
- Value: Medium
- Risk: Medium
- Game Type: Both
- Game Total/Moneyline: 8.5 Runs/MIN -200
Zack Greinke has been defying Father Time lately. In his last nine starts, he's had a 3.45 ERA and 4.13 xFIP. Still, as a pitch-to-contact hurler, Greinke is always prone to poor luck on batted balls. Further, Greinke's odds of getting burned by his formula for success are enhanced by Minnesota's excellence against righties. The Twins are fifth in wRC+ (113) against righties. They're also fantastic at home, tying or third in wRC+ (111). As a result, the Twins are an enticing stack.
- Home (Yankee Stadium)
- Value: Low
- Risk: Medium
- Game Type: GPP
- Game Total/Moneyline: 7.5 Runs/NY -170
The Yankees were disappointing last night. Nevertheless, their ability to punish lefties is worth investing in again tonight. The Yankees are first in wRC+ (126) and ISO (.220) against southpaws. They also shine in two more splits. First, they're fourth in wRC+ (120) over the last 30 days. Second, they're second in wRC+ (117) at home. Therefore, the Bronx Bombers are worth a dart in GPPs, even in a challenging matchup against Jeffrey Springs.
- Aaron Judge is a lefty-killer. Since 2019, he's hammered them for a .330 ISO and 177 wRC+.
- Since 2019, Willson Contreras has had a .358 OBP, .269 ISO and 136 wRC+ against southpaws. So, he shouldn't have any problem taking advantage of Corbin's .539 SLG and .397 wOBA ceded to righties this year.
- Carlos Correa has excelled in same-handed matchups. Since 2019, he's had a .203 ISO and 127 wRC+ against righties.
- Vinnie Pasquantino has been on fire. He's amid a seven-game hitting streak, homering in five contests.
- Nick Madrigal is a lineup-spot and matchup-driven punt. He's the first batter opposing Corbin tonight as Chicago's leadoff hitter. That's good enough at his salary.
- Nelson Velazquez is a superb power-chasing punt tonight. He ripped southpaws in the minors, and he's had a .375 ISO and 163 wRC+ in his first 46 plate appearances against lefties in The Show.
Tuesday's Hitter Strategy
The Cubs are a treasure trove of hitter selections against the human embodiment of a punching bag, Corbin. The Twins and Yankees are also offenses gamers should invest in. Finally, Pasquantino is a bingo square punt on DK and an excellent FD selection.
