Injury Roundup: Giancarlo Stanton, Trevor Story, Alek Manoah (2022 Fantasy Baseball)

While the quantity of injuries isn’t as much as we have had recently, the quality of the names hasn’t changed. Check out what big-name players are dealing with injuries heading into this week:

Boston Red Sox

Trevor Story (2B/SS) – Hand

After what was just believed to be discomfort, further tests revealed a hairline fracture in Trevor Story’s wrist. He will undergo further testing and a second opinion to determine whether surgery will be needed. He does not have a timetable to return.

Colorado Rockies

Kris Bryant (1B/3B/OF) – Foot

Before being put on the Injured List (IL) with a foot injury, the Rockies believed that Kris Bryant would be able to manage the ailment and avoid the IL. The Rockies changed their minds on Monday and placed him on the 10-day IL. He will miss only the minimum for now.

Detroit Tigers

Tarik Skubal (LHP) – Arm

The Tigers removed Traik Skubal from his last start with left arm fatigue. While the injury could be a cause for concern, Skubal does not believe it will force him to miss his next scheduled start.

Kansas City Royals

Bobby Witt Jr. (SS/3B) – Hand

Bobby Witt Jr. was HBP during Sunday’s game. The injury is not considered serious, but the Royals decided to hold him out of Monday’s lineup. His status should be monitored going forward.

Miami Marlins

Trevor Rogers (LHP) – Back

Trevor Rogers has been placed on the IL as he is dealing with back spasms. Since the placement, he has been playing catch and is scheduled to throw a bullpen in the coming days. His stay on the IL should be the minimum.

Minnesota Twins

Alex Kirilloff (1B/OF) – Wrist

After dealing with wrist soreness, the Twins removed Alex Kirilloff from his last game. This is the same wrist that he had surgically repaired, and an IL stint is possible while he figures out the next steps.

New York Yankees

Giancarlo Stanton (OF) – Achilles

The Yankees placed Giancarlo Stanton on the IL Sunday after dealing with soreness in his Achilles. He has not taken part in any baseball activities but expects to be cleared in the coming days. He does not have a timetable to return.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Ke’Bryan Hayes (3B) – Knee

Ke’Bryan Hayes was a late scratch from Sunday’s game as he is going through knee soreness. He should be considered day-to-day for now but expects to return to the lineup on Tuesday.

San Diego Padres

Eric Hosmer (1B) – Neck

The Padres held Eric Hosmer out of Monday’s lineup after exiting Sunday’s game with a neck strain. His availability off the bench was unknown, so he should be monitored going forward to see how long he could be out.

Texas Rangers

Jon Gray (RHP) – Side

Texas removed Jon Gray from yesterday’s start after experiencing left-side discomfort. It is unknown whether this injury will force him to miss his next scheduled start later this week.

Toronto Blue Jays

Alek Manoah (RHP) – Elbow

After being hit by a come-backer on his throwing elbow, Alek Manoah underwent x-rays that only revealed a contusion. He was quoted as “feeling better” on Saturday and is in line to make his next start in the Jays’ rotation.
