The NFL is back with its annual Hall of Fame Game between the Jaguars and the Raiders. Both teams will likely be sitting most of their starters, so for these DFS lineups, we’ll have to go deep into the rosters.
Both DraftKings and FanDuel will be doing showdown contests with one captain who scores 1.5x as many fantasy points, along with a group of flex players.
Jaguars Analysis
For quarterback, the Jaguars will start third-stringer Jake Luton. He saw some starts back in 2020 for the Jags and threw for 624 yards and a pair of touchdowns in three games.
Backup C.J. Beathard is dealing will a groin issue, and head coach Doug Peterson announced Trevor Lawrence would not suit up, so we should see Luton for most of the game.
Another Jags player that should see plenty of snaps is running back Snoop Conner. With Travis Etienne fresh off a Lisfranc injury and James Robinson recovering from an Achillies, this leaves the sixth-rounder out of Ole Miss as the next man up. He’s already impressed the coaching staff at training camp, and it was no surprise that he is third on the depth chart coming into this game. The man has a knack for finding the end zone, as he had 13 touchdowns last season.
Don’t be surprised if Ryquell Armstead, along with Mekhi Sargent and Nathan Cottrell, gets some snaps later on, but Conners will be the one to drop it like it’s hot, so I’d throw juice onto him, and maybe gin if you’re old enough.
The Jaguars have a large pool of wide receivers that should see some playing time, but I’m leading Zay Jones. I believe the Jags brought in Jones to be their WR3 behind Christian Kirk and Marvin Jones, and he should get the most snaps of this receiving core.
More importantly, it’s a revenge game as Jones spent the previous two and a half seasons with the Raiders. Laquon Treadwell, Laviska Shenault and Jones with likely be the three that see the majority of snaps in this game, but Jones is the best candidate to put in your lineup.
Raiders Analysis
For the Raiders, it’s likely former Patriots quarterback Jarrett Stidham will get the starting nod. The former Patriots’ backup is very familiar with Josh McDaniel’s offensive scheme and will be ready. We should also see Nick Mullens get ample playing time, but the learning curve makes Stidham the better pick.
Another Raider I’m looking to grab is rookie RB Zamir White. The last time we saw White, he was making a big run in the National Championship for Georgia. He should see a ton of carries tonight as he’s favored to be the third running back behind Josh Jacobs and Kenyon Drake.
While Davante Adams is the headlining wide receiver the Raiders grabbed in the offseason, they picked up a few others to replenish the position. One, in particular, is Demarcus Robinson, who comes in listed as the starting WR3. Adams and Renfrow are probably not seeing the field, so Robinson should get the leading wideout role.
Optimal Lineup (FanDuel)
The six headlining players mentioned above will be very popular. In DFS, you don’t want the same lineup as a majority of the pool, so we’re going to throw in a possible lower percentage player that could have a productive game.
- Captain (1.5x points): Snoop Conner
- Flex: Jake Luton
- Flex: Zamir White
- Flex: Zay Jones
- Flex: Keelan Cole
