Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Diontae Johnson expected to be fine following shoulder injury

Fantasy Impact: Johnson went down during Sunday’s game after sustaining a shoulder injury, and he wasn’t able to return. His injury hasn’t officially been diagnosed yet, but coach Mike Tomlin said he does not expect bad news. This is a big relief for fantasy managers, who have high hopes for the star receiver in 2022.

Najee Harris suffered lisfranc sprain four weeks ago

Fantasy Impact: Harris didn’t play in the preseason up until Sunday’s game, although it was assumed at the time that the Steelers were holding him out to prevent injury. The lisfranc injury normally carries a 4-6 week recovery, meaning that Harris would be expected to be at full strength close to the start of the regular season. Harris becomes a shaky pick in fantasy drafts due to the risk of reinjury, while undrafted rookie and presumed No. 2 running back Jaylen Warren becomes a must-add as a handcuff in deeper leagues.

T.J. Watt sustains minor knee injury Sunday

Fantasy Impact: Watt left the game and wasn’t able to return after injuring his knee, but seems to have avoided any serious complications. Coach Mike Tomlin said that he doesn’t expect to get bad news about the star veteran’s injury, and he added that he probably would’ve returned to the game if it had been in the regular season. This is good news for the Steelers defense, who would have a massive hole to fill if Watt missed extensive time.

Daniel Bellinger leaves game with concussion Sunday

Fantasy Impact: Before leaving the game, Bellinger hauled in three receptions for 37 yards. The rookie was in line to be the starting tight end for the season opener. If he is unable to go, Chris Myarick will start. The Giants’ tight end room is already thin as Ricky Seals-Jones was placed on season-ending IR with a toe injury.
