Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Cam Akers returns to practice Monday

Fantasy Impact: Akers has been dealing with a soft-tissue injury for the past two weeks and was held out of practice. Akers is currently ranked as the RB20 in ECR, according to FantasyPros. If he can remain healthy and be on the positive side of a timeshare with Darrell Henderson, he could outplay his current ranking.

Fantasy Impact: MVS figures to be a major part of the Chiefs’ offense after signing a three-year deal in the offseason. He currently ranks as the WR50 in ECR and has a really good chance to outplay that. The 27-year-old is a solid pickup in the WR3/4 territory.

Mason Crosby status uncertain for Week 1

According to Matt LaFleur, the Packers are still contemplating if Mason Crosby is healthy enough to come off the PUP list before Tuesday’s deadline. (Source: Matt Schneidman on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: A knee scope has kept Crosby on the sidelines during training camp. If Crosby is not activated off the PUP list by Tuesday, he will miss the first four games of the regular season. Ramiz Ahmed has handled kicking duties with Crosby out and would likely be the kicker to start the season if Crosby remains sidelined.

Robert Tonyan participates in team drills

Fantasy Impact: Tonyan has only been doing individual drills so far in training camp as he attempts to return from ACL surgery. There is still no word if he will be ready for Week 1 but he continues to progress in the right direction. Tonyan could be a big red zone target for Aaron Rodgers this season when healthy making him an ideal backup tight end with upside to consider late in fantasy drafts.

Brian Robinson could be released from the hospital Monday

Brian Robinson is said to be “in a really good place” per head coach Ron Rivera. He could be released from the hospital Monday and the team has not ruled Robinson out from playing at some point in 2022. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter )

Fantasy Impact: Although football is the least important aspect of this situation, Robinson was seemingly set to open the season as the starter. While this unfortunate situation moves Antonio Gibson’s stock up a bit, it also should not drive Robinson’s down to much. If he does end up suiting up for the Commanders this season, he could work himself back into the starting RB role.
