Zach Ertz (calf) missing practice with unconcerning injury

Zach Ertz has missed multiple consecutive practices with a calf injury, which forced him to exit practice early on August 4th. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury only added that Ertz is “coming along” with his calf injury. (Source: Bo Brack on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Ertz’s injury has been kept pretty quiet since August 4th, which is not surprising in the preseason. At this time it seems highly unlikely that his calf issue affects his performance for the regular season. While teammate Deandre Hopkins is suspended, Ertz figures to be a safety blanket for quarterback Kyler Murray for the first six weeks. In 11 games with Arizona in 2021, Ertz finished with 81 targets, 56 receptions, 574 receiving yards and three touchdowns. While Ertz is a better option in PPR formats, managers in all formats will hope his 5.35-touchdown-percentage will increase in 2022.

Drake London exits preseason game Friday with a knee injury

Fantasy Impact: London caught one pass for 24 yards from Marcus Mariota on the Falcons first drive of the game. It didn’t look like he suffered an injury on that play at first glance, but it is possible he felt something when walking over to the sideline. This will be a situation to continue to monitor surrounding the Falcons first-round pick.

Elijah Mitchell may not play in preseason due to hamstring injury

According to Adam Schefter, 49er’s RB Elijah Mitchell is nursing a hamstring injury that likely will prevent him from playing in the preseason. (Source: Adam Schefter on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Mitchell emerged as a fantasy football revelation as a rookie in 2021, and reports out of camp have him pegged as the clear-cut No. 1 RB for the 49ers heading into the upcoming season. So any sense of discomfort Mitchell is dealing with in terms of his hamstring will undoubtedly be treated with the utmost precaution. It’s been reported Mitchell is expected to be ready to suit up for the start of the regular season, so barring any setbacks, fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief. When healthy, the sophomore back should thrive in the 49ers’ offense as their RB1 and have the chance to outproduce his current ADP of RB24 substantially.

Zach Wilson (knee) to undergo MRI Saturday

Following Friday’s preseason game, Jets head coach Robert Saleh told reporters Zach Wilson would undergo an MRI Saturday to determine the extent of the QB’s knee injury. (Source: Adam Schefter)

Fantasy Impact: At this point, no further information has emerged as to Wilson’s status that isn’t speculation. Stay tuned as more definitive answers become available once Wilson has undergone his MRI.
