Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Treylon Burks (wrist) returns to preseason game

Treylon Burks was listed as questionable after leaving the Titans’ preseason game Saturday against the Cardinals with a wrist injury. Burks returned to the game during the second quarter. (Source: Terry McCormick on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Burks returned to the game and caught a bullet pass from Malik Willis for a 14-yard TD. Burks has had disappointing preseason, but ran a very nice crossing route to put the Titans up 13-7 late in the second quarter. He is a solid pick in the later rounds in fantasy drafts.

Tyquan Thornton (collarbone) underwent surgery Monday

Fantasy Impact: The recovery time should be 6-8 weeks from the procedure but could vary depending on healing and re-acclimation to football. This puts him on track to potentially return by as early as Week 4 during the season. When healthy, he’ll likely be a deep threat receiver for the Patriots offense. He doesn’t hold too much upside from a fantasy football perspective.

Damien Harris (undisclosed) sits out preseason finale

Damien Harris didn’t play in the Patriots’ preseason finale against the Raiders on Friday. He tweaked something on Wednesday, but there’s no indication that the injury is serious enough to impact his status for Week 1. (Source: Evan Lazar on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Harris put together a phenomenal 2021 campaign but is expected to face some regression this season. New England has plenty of mouths to feed, including up-and-coming youngster Rhamondre Stevenson and trustworthy veteran Ty Montgomery (ankle). As of now, Harris should be viewed as a mid-range RB3.

Sam Darnold expected to miss 4-6 weeks

Sam Darnold is expected to be out 4-6 weeks with a high-ankle sprain. He is expected to get a second opinion to confirm the injury. (Source: Ian Rapoport on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: This was great news considering how the injury initially looked. Darnold will likely only see meaningful game reps if Baker Mayfield is injured or ineffective. Mayfield remains the Panthers’ Week 1 starter.
