Alexander Mattison leaves practice with finger injury Tuesday

Fantasy Impact: Mattison appeared to injure his finger and left practice after starter Dalvin Cook had already left earlier with an apparent hand injury. Third-string running back Kene Nwangwu already missed practice Monday before sitting out Tuesday as well, so the Vikings backfield is already banged up in training camp. The Vikings appear to be exercising caution with Cook and Mattison this early in camp. Mattison’s and Cook’s injuries, while likely minor, are worth monitoring, as Mattison’s fantasy value, being a handcuff, is tied almost entirely to Cook’s health status. In six career games in Minnesota with Cook out, Mattison has 117 carries for 477 yards and three rushing touchdowns, with an additional 23 receptions for 213 yards and two receiving touchdowns.
Michael Carter dealing with minor ankle injury

Fantasy Impact: Carter is reportedly dealing with an ankle injury that is affecting some of his reps at camp. It is considered minor, so this shouldn’t cause much concern for fantasy managers. The situation in New York is something to monitor, however, with RB’s Breece Hall and Michael Carter fighting for the #1 spot.
Dalvin Cook leaves practice with hand injury Tuesday
Vikings running back Dalvin Cook left Tuesday’s practice with what appeared to be a hand injury according to the Star Tribune’s Mark Craig. (Source: Mark Craig, Star Tribune)
Fantasy Impact: Cook returned for one snap before watching the rest of practice from the sidelines. Cook’s backup Alexander Mattison also later left practice with a finger injury. Third-string running back Kene Nwangwu already missed practice Monday before sitting out Tuesday as well, so the Vikings backfield is already banged up in training camp. The Vikings appear to be erring on the side of caution with their bell cow back but any injury is something to monitor with the oft-injured running back as camp continues. The hand issue bears watching as Cook is expected to be more involved in the passing game this season.
