Top-10 Prospects to Stash: Miguel Vargas, Max Meyer, Triston Casas (2022 Fantasy Baseball)

Top-10 Prospects to Stash: Miguel Vargas, Max Meyer, Triston Casas (2022 Fantasy Baseball)

Since last week’s article, we have had two exciting call-ups in Brayan Bello and Esteury Ruiz. Whether you play in a redraft, keeper, or dynasty league, prospects can significantly impact your teams. Which players could be next?

This article series will take a look at prospects that are worth stashing for both redraft and dynasty leagues that can make an impact on your teams sooner rather than later. We will also try to project ETAs on these players to help give you an edge in your leagues on when to add these players.

We will first look at redraft leagues and some prospects worth stashing for this season.

Prospects to Stash for Redraft

  1. Miguel Vargas (3B – LAD)
  2. Max Meyer (SP – MIA)
  3. Spencer Steer (2B, 3B – MIN)
  4. Alec Burleson (OF – STL)
  5. Triston Casas (1B – BOS)
  6. Ethan Small (SP – MIL)
  7. DL Hall (SP – BAL)
  8. Drew Waters (OF – KC)
  9. Bo Naylor (C – CLE)
  10. Kyle Stowers (OF – BAL)

MLB Debuts and Redraft Risers

Last week’s number one and four ranked prospects to stash in Brayan Bello and Esteury Ruiz both were called up and made their MLB debuts. Bello has faced the Rays in both his starts and has been underwhelming from a results standpoint. He has shown the stuff to be a big-time strikeout pitcher, but Bello is back in Triple-A to make room for Chris Sale. Don’t panic about Bello, buy-low in dynasty leagues.

Esteury Ruiz was called up and started in centerfield for the Padres in his MLB debut on Tuesday. Thanks to his intriguing power and speed blend, he could be a big FAAB target this weekend. Between Double and Triple-A this season, Ruiz has a .333/.467/.560 slash with 13 home runs and a smooth 60 stolen bases.

This week’s big risers are Alec Burleson, DL Hall, Drew Waters, and Bo Naylor.

Burleson has improved this season in Triple-A and has a .336/.379/.558 slash with 16 home runs. He may hit his way to a debut with the Cardinals.

DL Hall is coming off a six-inning start with 14 strikeouts and two walks. It seems like a matter of time before he gets his chance to start in Baltimore.

The Braves traded Drew Waters from Atlanta to Kansas City. He was blocked in Atlanta but could get a shot in Kansas City soon, especially if the Royals are sellers at the deadline. Waters reached Triple-A in 2019 but has yet to make his MLB debut. His time is coming, though.

Bo Naylor has raked this season in Double and Triple-A. Over his last 30 games, he has seven home runs and four stolen bases. He has gotten even better since reaching Triple-A. The Guardians aren’t pressed to call him up, but he could get a shot at some point this season.

Prospects to Stash for Keeper/Dynasty

For this section, we will look at prospects that could debut in early 2023 that could be worth picking up and keeping in shallower keeper and dynasty leagues.

Hitters

  1. Corbin Carroll (OF – ARI)
  2. Gunnar Henderson (SS – BAL)
  3. Josh Jung (3B – TEX)
  4. Anthony Volpe (SS – NYY)
  5. Brennen Davis (OF – CHC)
  6. Henry Davis (C – PIT)
  7. Curtis Mead (3B – TB)
  8. Dustin Harris (OF – TEX)
  9. Pedro Leon (OF – HOU)
  10. Jordan Groshans (3B – TOR)

Pitchers

  1. Daniel Espino (SP – CLE)
  2. Eury Perez (SP – MIA)
  3. DL Hall (SP – BAL)
  4. Taj Bradley (SP – TB)
  5. Gavin Stone (SP – LAD)
  6. Cody Morris (SP – CLE)
  7. Bobby Miller (SP – LAD)
  8. Matt Canterino (SP – MIN)
  9. Gordon Graceffo (SP – STL)
  10. Cole Henry (SP – WSH)

These players could make early impacts in 2023 and are worth rostering and keeping in keeper and dynasty leagues. I hope you find this list helpful and that you can find the next prospect to help vault you up the standings in your leagues.
