Injury Roundup: Bryan Reynolds, Starling Marte, Wander Franco (2022 Fantasy Baseball)

Stay up to date with the latest injury news around the league:

Boston Red Sox

Michael Wacha (RHP) – Shoulder

Wacha was officially placed on the 15-day IL with right shoulder inflammation. After experiencing “heavy arm,” the Red Sox decided he needed a stint on the IL to ensure the longevity of their right-handed starter. He should return after the All-Star break.

Chicago Cubs

Kyle Hendricks (RHP) – Shoulder

After being placed on the IL, Hendricks underwent an MRI that revealed no structural damage in his throwing shoulder. There is no current timetable for his return.

Cincinnati Reds

Tyler Mahle (RHP) – Shoulder

Although Mahle is not concerned about his shoulder, the Reds decided it was enough to place him on the IL while he heals up from the right shoulder strain he was diagnosed with. His timetable is still up in the air.

Houston Astros

Yordan Alvarez (OF) – Hand

The Astros recently revealed that Alvarez has been battling right-hand discomfort for some time. After being held out of Sunday’s lineup, the Astros decided it was enough to place him on the injured list, and he is eligible to be activated after the break.

Los Angeles Angels

Michael Lorenzen (RHP) – Shoulder

Lorenzen has been dealing with a right shoulder strain, which is why his scheduled start last Friday was in question. He was placed on the IL, and MRI results revealed no structural damage. Once his treatment has been completed, he will begin a throwing program before determining when he will be able to return.

New York Mets

Starling Marte (OF) – Groin

After being removed from his last game, the Mets revealed that Marte is dealing with a groin injury. Although he has been kept out of the lineup since then, the Mets have not seen it necessary to place him on the IL yet. His situation should be monitored going forward.

James McCann (C) – Oblique

McCann landed on the IL with an oblique injury on Sunday, and he is expected to be out for at least six weeks.

Pittsburgh Pirates

Bryan Reynolds (OF) – Oblique

The Pirates placed Reynolds on the 10-day IL with a right oblique strain. At this moment, the Pirates are unsure whether he will be able to return once eligible.

Tampa Bay Rays

Wander Franco (SS, 3B) – Hand

Franco is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the fractured hamate bone in his hand, and his current timetable is five-to-eight weeks.

Texas Rangers

Mitch Garver (C) – Forearm

After dealing with a forearm injury for most of the season, Garver decided to opt for surgery to repair it and is now slated to miss the remainder of the season.

Toronto Blue Jays

Yusei Kikuchi (LHP) – Neck

Kikuchi was placed on the 15-day IL with what is being labeled as a neck strain. The injury has been said to be affecting him in his recent starts, and he does not have a timetable for his return.
