Fantasy Football Redraft Draft Kit

Trey Lance to be new starter in San Francisco

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and 49ers general manager John Lynch had a conversation with QB Jimmy Garoppolo that the team has “moved on to [QB Trey Lance].” (Source: Tom Pelissero on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Lance is younger than every QB that was drafted in 2022 with the exception of QB Sam Howell, according to PFF’s Mike Renner. Coming out of North Dakota State, he was seen as a ball-of-clay prospect with a high ceiling. The 49ers invested heavy capital trading for the third overall pick to select Lance. The 49ers flirted with keeping Garoppolo, who had been very successful with the team, in terms of winning, at least, but the inevitable seemed to come — the 49ers are finally going all in on the youngster and their future. Even if he needs more time to develop as a passer, which it seems may be the case if his rookie season was an indication, his rushing ability alone raises Lance’s floor highly for fantasy purposes. With security finally there, fantasy managers can see Lance’s average draft position of QB14 as a potential bargain and lottery ticket in 2022.

Rondale Moore expected to have increased role this season

Rondale Moore is expected to have an increased role in the Cardinals offense with Christian Kirk now in Jacksonville according to Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury. (Source: James Palmer on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Moore will definitely be given every opportunity to carve out a large role in a very fantasy-friendly Cardinals offense lead by quarterback Kyler Murray, running back James Conner, and wide receivers De’Andre Hopkins and Hollywood Brown. The speedy wideout will receive every opportunity to succeed.

Cole Beasley drawing ‘significant’ interest

According to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, there is “significant interest across the league” in free agent WR Cole Beasley. (Source: Mike Garafolo on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: Cole Beasley has quietly been one of the NFL’s most productive pass-catchers over the past two seasons, recording the 12th most receptions in the league over that time. Garafolo adds that he believes the veteran WR will sign with a team in the “next couple of weeks.” Beasley is currently being drafted as WR127 according to FantasyPros, but his ADP will likely skyrocket once he finds himself on a roster. In PPR formats, Beasley finished the 2020 and 2021 seasons as WR27 and WR37 respectively, playing 15 games in each of those years.

Irv Smith Jr. expected to fully participate in training camp

According to head coach Kevin O’Connell, TE Irv Smith Jr. is expected to participate fully at Vikings training camp. (Source: Chris Tomasson on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: The 23-year-old tight end missed all of 2021 with a torn meniscus, so this is a promising sign for a player many expected to break out last season. Through 29 games with the Vikings, Smith has 66 receptions for 676 yards and seven touchdowns. He is currently being drafted as the 14th TE off the board, but he has strong potential to end the year as a TE1 if he stays healthy.
