Deshaun Watson ruling may still be weeks away

Senior NFL Reporter for Yahoo, Charles Robinson, states “nobody involved seems to think it’s coming this week” regarding Deshaun Watson’s court ruling. (Source: Twitter)

Fantasy Impact: It is still likely Watson is found in violation of the NFL’s personal conduct policy and will face a lengthy suspension. Watson, for fantasy purposes, remains one of the most intriguing current draft options given his three most recent seasons have all resulted in Top 5 finishes at the QB position. Drafting Watson with no information on the duration of his suspension and taking the risk on throwing away a draft pick will continue for a few more weeks it seems. The best advice may be to just stay away, for now.

Cole Kmet expected to be featured more in new offensive system

Josh Schrock reports TE Cole Kmet has a “golden opportunity” to be a staple of the new Chicago Bears offense. (Source: NBC Sports Chicago)

Fantasy Impact: Entering his third season with the Bears, Kmet has finished no higher than TE21 despite playing every game the last two seasons. With the departure of Matt Nagy, the Bears offense as a whole is expected to take a step forward in Justin Fields’ second year. The door is open for Kmet to be a legitimate fantasy option at the TE position in 2022, as Chicago truly lacks a second passing game option behind Darnell Mooney. Kmet is currently ranked TE11 and is a great late-round draft target with real upside based on his clear path to targets if he can become a reliable option for Justin Fields.

David Njoku set for larger role in Browns offense this season

Zac Jackson of the Athletic reports the Browns are expecting David Njoku to “take a major step forward” this season. (Source: The Athletic)

Fantasy Impact: 2022 will be David Njoku’s sixth year in the NFL, all with the Browns. Njoku’s best fantasy finish was TE9 in 2018, yet every other season he has finished outside of the Top 23 at the position. The Browns just signed Njoku to a massive extension, the likes of which Dalton Schultz and others are currently trying to replicate for themselves, and it seems as though they are paying him based on potential rather than results. Njoku is a nice late round sleeper or deep bench stash simply based on his athleticism, age, and QB Deshaun Watson returning eventually.
