Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Standard Scoring (2022)

Fantasy Football Mock Draft: Standard Scoring (2022)

The fantasy football world flipped from “standard” scoring to PPR scoring more seamlessly than J-Lo went A-Rod to Affleck. I’m a Red Sox fan, so that’s where the simile ends because I believe there’s still a place for non-PPR scoring.

I ran a mock draft from the number three draft position using the non-PPR/standard scoring format and broke down some of my picks below.

Draft Analysis & Takeaways

  • In a surprising turn of events, Najee Harris went with the second overall pick. That move gave me an easy shot at Derrick Henry, my second-ranked player behind Jonathan Taylor in non-PPR formats.
  • I went with Diggs in the second round because despite being a receiver, the Bills’ offense will score — a lot. I love snagging shares of good offenses in touchdown-premium leagues.
  • With my fourth pick, I was deciding between Justin Herbert, Josh Allen, George Kittle and A.J. Dillon. Ultimately I went with Dillon because I loved what I saw last season, and his touchdown-scoring potential is off the charts.
  • FantasyPros’ algorithm’s least-favorite selection of mine was easily Cordarrelle Patterson in the sixth round. I’m cool with that. CP was a beast in the red zone last year for the Falcons. They’d be silly not to force-feed him goalline touches again.
  • Hunter Renfrow, my ninth-round pick, is one of my sneaky non-PPR league favorites. He was fantastic in small spaces last year, quickly building a goalline rapport with Derek Carr. This year, defenses will likely be draped on Davante Adams and Darren Waller, giving Renfrow even more space to work.
