Chris Sale diagnosed with fractured finger

Fantasy Impact: Sale’s pinkie finger was hit by a line drive in the first inning of Sunday’s game against the Yankees and he immediately walked off the field. It’s an awful break for the ace pitcher who was making just his second start of the season. It’s unclear how much time he’ll miss but a fractured finger on a pitching hand is almost certain to be a relatively lengthy absence, so fantasy managers beginning their preparation for the stretch run should be prepared to be without Sale for the majority of the remainder of the season. The Red Sox should provide a timetable for his return later today or over the All-Star break.
Harold Ramirez leaves Sunday’s game after breaking thumb on HBP

Fantasy Impact: Ramirez actually stayed in the game initially, but came out shortly thereafter and X-rays showed the break. He’ll be re-evaluated in two weeks but chances are, he’s going to miss at least a month, if not more. To the extent you’re rostering Ramirez, you can likely move on at this point given his probable timetable.
Yordan Alvarez to begin hitting on Sunday

Fantasy Impact: Alvarez will hit for the first time since he went on the 10-day injured list with a sore hand on July 10. Manager Dusty Baker said that Alvarez will stay back in Houston instead of going to L.A. and will ‘try to get ready for the Yankees, get ready for the second half.’ Alvarez has been a prolific hitter this season producing a .306/.405/.653 triple slash line with 26 home runs and 60 RBI over 75 games. Barring any setbacks, he should be able to return soon after the All-Star break.
Tyler Mahle on track for activation after the All-Star break
Tyler Mahle is on track to come off the IL and start one of the Reds’ first three games after the All-Star break, according to manager David Bell. (Source: Bobby Nightengale on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: Get ready to put Mahle back in your lineup and out of your IL spot if you have him stashed there. The Reds face the Marlins after the break, which is a good matchup. Mahle has struggled with a 4.48 ERA this season, but his FIP is almost a run lower, and his K/9 is nearly 10 per game.
