Week 10 is almost here! Like we do every week, we’re going to look at the two-start pitchers you should lock in or at least consider using for the upcoming slate of games.
Like I do every week, I’ll break the pitchers down the two-start pitchers into six categories:
- Don’t Think Twice – These are the aces you start no matter what.
- Widely-Rostered Options – Players rostered in most leagues who should provide a positive return.
- In the Danger Zone – It’s a dice roll to start them given matchups or other factors.
- Streamers Rostered in Under 50% of Leagues – These guys should live on the waiver wire, but you can start them this week.
- Streamers Rostered in Under 25% of Leagues – Same as above but applied to deeper leagues.
- Not Unless You’re Desperate – I don’t recommend these guys unless you’re swinging for the fences.
Let’s look at those pitchers scheduled to make two starts for the upcoming week, as projected on CBS as of Saturday morning.

Let’s look at those pitchers scheduled to make two starts for the upcoming week, as projected on CBS as of Saturday morning.
Don’t Think Twice
Sandy Alcantara (MIA) (6/13 @PHI, 6/19 @NYM)
Alek Manoah (TOR) (6/13 vs. BAL, 6/18 vs. NYY)
Aaron Nola (PHI) (6/13 vs. MIA, 6/18 @WAS)
Nestor Cortes (NYY) (6/14 vs. TBR, 6/19 @TOR)
Nathan Eovaldi (BOS) (6/14 vs. OAK, 6/19 vs. STL)
Logan Gilbert (SEA) (6/14 vs. MIN, 6/18 vs. LAA)
Chris Bassitt (NYM) (6/14 vs. MIL, 6/19 vs. MIA)
Cristian Javier (HOU) (6/13 @TEX, 6/19 vs. CHW)
Widely-Rostered Options
Ian Anderson (ATL) (6/13 @WAS, 6/19 @CHC)
I’ve mentioned that Anderson is polarizing, and he’s been up and down this season, too. He’s coming off a good start against the A’s, but it’s the A’s. However, Anderson gets two plus matchups this week against the Nationals and Cubs, so I’m comfortable firing him up.
Miles Mikolas (STL) (6/14 vs. PIT, 6/19 @BOS)
After two shaky outings, Mikolas bounced back with a complete-game effort against the Rays striking out nine hitters. Boston concerns me a tad, but the Pirates matchup should do enough to land Mikolas and his managers a positive return.
Alex Wood (SF) (6/13 vs. KCR, 6/19 @PIT)
After getting shelled by the Padres in May, Wood has improved in his three most recent outings. He’s facing two of the bottom-third offenses this week in the Royals and Pirates, making him out streamer of the week.
In the Danger Zone
Shane Bieber (CLE) (6/14 @COL, 6/19 @LAD)
Isn’t it great when your ace gets a two-start week, and it’s in Colorado and against the Dodgers in Los Angeles? I’m benching him this week, and it sucks.
Noah Syndergaard (LAA) (6/14 @LAD, 6/19 @SEA)
I hope you sold high on Syndergaard while you could. The diminished velocity is catching up to him, and I prefer sitting him until I see things starting to change – especially against the Dodgers.
Corey Kluber (TB) (6/14 @NYY, 6/19 @BAL)
It’s been three solid starts in a row for Kluber – two of which he went six innings – but against the Yankees, I’d take a cautious approach with him despite handling them well in his last outing against them.
Streamers Rostered in Under 50% of Leagues
Merrill Kelly (ARI) (6/13 vs. CIN, 6/19 vs. MIN)
Kelly looks more like the Kelly we knew before the Spring Training velocity gains. But he recorded a ton of swings and misses his last time out, making him a fine deep-league start next week with the Reds being a plus matchup.
Josiah Gray (WAS) (6/13 vs. ATL, 6/18 vs. PHI)
Gray has quietly been good over the last month, and the one thing you can for sure count on him for is strikeouts. He’s a 15-team guy against Atlanta and the Phillies this week, but both teams strike out a ton.
Yusei Kikuchi (TOR) (6/14 vs. BAL, 6/19 vs. NYY)
After a dominating stretch, Kikuchi has struggled of late. The Baltimore matchup is great, and he’s handled the Yankees each time he’s faced them this year. How lucky do you feel?
Streamers Rostered in Under 25% of Leagues
Zach Eflin (PHI) (6/14 vs. MIA, 6/19 @WAS)
Wood getting the Royals and the Pirates is fantastic. Eflin getting the Marlins and Nats is a great consolation prize. He has a low floor, but he’s a great option given the matchups.
Alex Faedo (DET) (6/13 vs. CHW, 6/18 vs. TEX)
The former top-pitching prospect has looked pretty serviceable for the Tigers, showing some good swing-and-miss stuff. Both offenses can do damage when everything is clicking, but it’s a decent spot for him in 15-teamers.
Not Unless You’re Desperate
Marco Gonzales (SEA) (6/15 vs. MIN, 6/19 vs. LAA)
Stephen Strasburg (WAS) (6/14 vs. ATL, 6/19 vs. PHI)
Adrian Houser (MIL) (6/14 @NYM, 6/19 @CIN)
Brady Singer (KC) (6/13 @SFG, 6/19 @OAK)
Chris Flexen (SEA) (6/13 vs. MIN, 6/18 vs. LAA)
Dane Dunning (TEX) (6/14 vs. HOU, 6/19 @DET)
Jordan Lyles (BAL) (6/14 @TOR, 6/19 vs. TBR)
Chris Archer (MIN) (6/13 @SEA, 6/19 @ARI)
Mike Minor (CIN) (6/13 @ARI, 6/19 vs. MIL)
Taylor Hearn (TEX) (6/13 vs. HOU, 6/18 @DET)
J.T. Brubaker (PIT) (6/14 @STL, 6/19 vs. SFG)
Kyle Bradish (BAL) (6/13 @TOR, 6/18 vs. TBR)
Antonio Senzatela (COL) (6/14 vs. CLE, 6/19 vs. SDP)
Jared Koenig (OAK) (6/14 @BOS, 6/19 vs. KCR)
