Monday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
An ace in a probable pitcher's duel is the top hurler tonight. However, three high-upside pitchers are tightly clustered behind him.

Monday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
An ace in a probable pitcher's duel is the top hurler tonight. However, three high-upside pitchers are tightly clustered behind him.
Cash Game Recommendations:
Gerrit Cole (NYY) at TB
Thankfully, Cole bounced back from a nightmare start against the Twins on May 9. In fact, he cruised against tonight's opponent, the Rays. On May 14, Cole held them scoreless on five hits, one walk and seven strikeouts in six innings. Thus, Cole's stinker against the Twins appears to be an outlier.
According to FanGraphs, in 13 starts spanning 73.0 innings, Cole has had a 3.33 ERA, 2.80 xFIP, 1.07 WHIP, 6.1 BB%, 30.6 K% and 31.9 CSW%. In addition, Cole has a tremendous matchup. The Rays are 19th in wRC+ (95) versus righties, and their 25.0 K% against them has been the fourth-highest mark. As a result, Cole is the top pitcher on tonight's slate.
Yu Darvish (SD) vs. ARI
Darvish is having a rock-solid season and has been in excellent form lately. In his previous four starts lasting 29.1 innings, he's had a 2.45 ERA, 3.57 SIERA, 0.72 WHIP, 3.7 BB%, 22.0 K% and 30.2 CSW%. Additionally, Darvish's CSW% indicates he should be striking more hitters out.
Fortunately, he has a golden opportunity to pile up strikeouts tonight. The Diamondbacks have had the fifth-highest strikeout rate (24.9 K%) against righties. Finally, the betting info is ideal. The Friars are -195 favorites, and the game's total is only 7.0 runs. Therefore, Darvish is the best SP2 option in cash games on DraftKings.
GPP Recommendations:
Logan Webb (SF) at ATL
Webb and the Giants are slight underdogs (+130) against the white-hot Braves and lefty hurler Max Fried. Nevertheless, the game's over/under (8.0 runs) isn't terrifying, and Webb is on a roll. In his last five starts totaling 30.1 innings, he's had a 3.26 ERA, 2.50 xFIP, 1.05 WHIP, 5.8 BB%, 28.1 K% and 30.5 CSW%.
Moreover, while the Braves are a tricky matchup, they provide righties with sizable strikeout potential. Atlanta has struck out at the third-highest rate (25.6 K%) against right-handed pitchers this season. As a result, Webb is tailor-made for GPP usage.
Jose Berrios (TOR) at CHW
It hasn't been smooth sailing for Berrios all season. However, he's been outstanding more often than not lately. Berrios has had five quality starts in his last six turns, pitching seven innings or more in four games and striking out seven, eight, and 13 batters in turns during his heater.
Thus, Berrios has seemingly found his footing. He should stay hot in a good matchup tonight. Chicago is tied for 25th in wRC+ (87) versus righties. Finally, Chicago's lineup will probably be filled almost entirely with righties, and Berrios has held right-handed batters to a .257 wOBA since 2021.
Top Lineup Stacks
Alex Faedo isn't embarrassing himself in his rookie campaign, owning a 4.28 ERA. Still, his 4.91 xERA suggests the rookie righty has been lucky. The regression monster will probably nip him in the behind tonight at hitter-friendly Fenway Park.
- Road (Guaranteed Rate Field)
- Value: Low(DK)/Medium(FD)
- Risk: Medium
- Game Type: Both
- Game Total/Moneyline: 9.0 Runs/TOR -135
Lance Lynn wasn't sharp in his first start of the year. On June 13, he yielded 10 hits to 22 batters faced. Additionally, Lynn had a 9.00 ERA and 4.43 xFIP in three Triple-A starts totaling 9.0 innings. Therefore, he might still be shaking the rust off, making the Blue Jays an attractive stack.
- Rafael Devers has been torching righties this year, smashing them for a .386 OBP, .295 ISO and 183 wRC+.
- Vladimir Guerrero isn't having the ideal follow-up campaign to his elite 2021. Regardless, he's handled righties with aplomb, amassing a .215 ISO and 125 wRC+.
- Xander Bogaerts is ripping the cover off the ball in same-handed matchups, tallying a .387 OBP and 147 wRC+ versus enemy righties in 2022.
- Since May 24, Teoscar Hernandez has clobbered the ball. In 95 plate appearances, he's ripped four round-trippers with a .379 OBP and .239 ISO.
- Riley Greene is only $100 more than the minimum salary on DK. It's hard to overlook the value he provides at that salary as a highly touted prospect demonstrating plate discipline immediately. Greene has a .667 OBP, four walks and just one strikeout in his first nine plate appearances in The Show.
- Oneil Cruz is expected to be called up tonight, and the toolsy shortstop has been raking of late in the minors. Since May 5, in 152 plate appearances, Cruz has hit eight homers with four stolen bases, a .382 OBP, .250 ISO and 141 wRC+.
Monday's Hitter Strategy
The Red Sox and the Blue Jays are the best sources of hitters tonight. Thankfully, there are a few punts to offset the high salaries of Boston's and Toronto's star hitters.
