Manny Machado X-rays negative, still question marks

Fantasy managers can breathe a small sigh of relief as X-rays on Manny Machado’s ankle came back negative. But he’s not out of the woods just yet. (Source: NBC Sports)

Fantasy Impact: Machado rolled his ankle badly running to first base in the 1st inning of Sunday’s 8-3 loss to the Rockies. He went to the ground immediately and had to be helped off the field. It’s great news that the X-rays revealed no broken bones, but it is still not yet known the severity of the sprained ankle. If it is a high ankle sprain, it could cost the third baseman a month or more. Stay tuned for updates.

Tyler O’Neill day-to-day with hamstring tightness

Fantasy Impact: O’Neill was removed in the 9th inning after suffering the injury running to second base. He should be considered day-to-day for now, as it’s possible the Cardinals will give him a day off or two either way. He’s been great since returning from the IL, hitting .318 /.354/.477 in 48 plate appearances.

Bryce Harper (blister) out of the lineup again on Sunday

Fantasy Impact: Harper missed Saturday’s game because of the infected blister and it’s obviously still bothering him. There’s still nothing to suggest this is an IL situation and with a day off Monday, fantasy managers can expect to see Harper on Tuesday against the Rangers absent news suggesting otherwise.

Mookie Betts (rib) to return in about two weeks

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that he expects Mookie Betts to be back in about two weeks, according to Orange Country Register Dodgers beat writer Bill Plunkett. (Source: Orange County Register)

Fantasy Impact: The Dodgers placed Betts on the 10-day IL with a cracked rib Sunday morning. Initial X-rays done did not show any fractures, but further testing revealed the cracked rib. If Roberts’ timeline is correct, that would be the best-case scenario for the former AL MVP. Betts is hitting .273 with 17 home runs and six stolen bases this year.
