Starling Marte to have MRI Wednesday, IL is likely
Mets OF Starling Marte is set to have an MRI on his left quad Wednesday. Those within the organization believe a stint on the IL is likely. (Source: Jon Heyman on Twitter )
Fantasy Impact: This would be a big blow to the Mets if Marte is set to miss any significant amount of time. He is slashing .277/.316/.757 with seven home runs, 33 RBIs, eight stolen bases, and 36 runs scored. With an IL stint potentially on the horizon, fantasy managers are going to want to plan on having a replacement ready to go into their lineups.
Tim Anderson on track for rehab assignment next week
White Sox outfielder Tim Anderson is progressing nicely from his groin injury and appears on track for a short stay on the IL. (Source: NBC Sports)
Fantasy Impact: Anderson was placed on the 10-day IL May 30 with a right groin strain. Groin injuries tend to linger, so this is really good news that Chicago might get their star back sooner than later. He has already resumed baseball activities.
Hyun Jin Ryu (forearm) to miss significant time
SP Hyun Jin Ryu is expected to miss significant time with a forearm injury. He is still gathering multiple opinions on how to approach a recovery. (Source: Jon Heyman on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact: It was noted earlier in the week that Ryu had some elbow issues as well, and it makes sense as his fastball velocity has dropped significantly as of late. There isn’t a concrete timeline on a return at the moment, but expect Ryu to be out of action for a while.
Xander Bogaerts pulled from game Tuesday with shoulder tightness
Red Sox shortstop Xander Bogaerts was removed from the game vs. the Angels with a shoulder injury. (Source: NBC Sports)
Fantasy Impact: Bogaerts was 1-for-4 before being replaced by Franchy Cordero. He appeared to have a little discomfort after his final at-bat. The Red Sox cannot afford to lose their star infielder as they have just finally started to find their groove, having won six straight. This situation is clearly worth monitoring closely Wednesday.
Pete Alonso initial X-rays come back negative
Mets slugger Pete Alonso’s initial X-ray results came back clean, showing no break, according to MLB.com writer Anthony DiComo.
Fantasy Impact: Did you hear that? That was the sound of all Mets fans and Alonso fantasy owners collective sigh of relief. He took a fastball from Yu Darvish off his right hand and immediately hit the ground in pain. Further tests will be done but it sounds as though Alonso dodged a bullet.
