Notes
Dany Jimenez appeared to have a strong hold on the closer role out of the Athletics bullpen, but his last three appearances have been brutal, allowing eight combined runs. His leash on that role appears to be getting shorter as the closer.
The Pirates showcased the trust they have in David Bednar last Monday as he tossed 50 pitches over the final two innings to earn the win in the first game of the Dodgers series to set the stone as Pittsburgh went on to sweep the Dodgers. He did not pitch in the next couple games as expected, but he should be locked into the Pirates closer role after opening up the year splitting those duties with Chris Stratton (RP – PIT).
