After Memorial Day’s small slate, it’s a big one on Tuesday night. There are 13 games on tonight’s main slate at DraftKings, beginning at the customary 7:05 pm ET. However, FanDuel’s main slate is 12 games, excluding the second game of the doubleheader between the Twins and Tigers. The contests have an exciting mix of stellar pitching and high-upside offenses.
Tuesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
There is a trio of high-salary arms who stand above their peers tonight. However, the one bargain pitcher on the table is an enticing SP2 pick in GPPs on DraftKings.

Cash Game Recommendations:
Cristian Javier (HOU) at OAK
Javier had one horrible start against the Nationals on May 14. But, otherwise, he's been spectacular this year. According to FanGraphs, in his other 33.1 innings (four starts and four relief appearances), he's had a 0.81 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, 6.5 BB%, and 35.0 K%.
Tonight, he has a great matchup. The A's are 29th in wRC+ (75) against righties, punching out at a 24.1% clip. Further, Oakland's active roster doesn't have high-end talent against righties. As a result, Javier should mow them down with ease. Finally, the Astros are -135 favorites, and the game has a pitcher-friendly total of 7.0 runs, per Betting Pros.
Julio Urias (LAD) vs. PIT
The BABIP gods were unkind to Urias when he faced the Pirates on May 9, resulting in 11 hits allowed in six innings. Still, he worked around traffic, holding them to just two runs.
The 25-year-old lefty is outperforming his ERA estimators. Nonetheless, he's thoroughly outpitched them throughout his career, making him a legitimate outlier. So, backing Urias' 2.49 ERA against Pittsburgh's pathetic active roster makes sense. Thankfully, there is enough value to be mined on offense to support using Javier and Urias together in cash games on DK.
GPP Recommendations:
Kevin Gausman (TOR) vs. CWS
Gausman has been out of this world this year. In nine starts totaling 56.0 innings, he's had a 2.25 ERA, 2.53 SIERA, 1.04 WHIP, 2.3 BB%, 29.3 K%, and 31.4 CSW%. Further, beyond Gausman's excellent overall stats, he's been consistently great. He's pitched at least five innings in all of his starts, holding the opposition to three runs or fewer in each.
Toronto's ace should have no trouble shoving it down Chicago's lineup's throat. They are 28th in wRC+ (82) against righties. Additionally, only three players on their active roster have been above average against righties in 2022. So, understandably, the Blue Jays are commanding -175 favorites.
George Kirby (SEA) at BAL
Kirby has been a mixed bag in his rookie season. First, his 4.50 ERA has been underwhelming. But, then, a look under the hood provides reasons for encouragement, such as his 3.12 xFIP, 3.17 SIERA, 2.4 BB%, and 23.5 K%. The positives on Kirby's ledger are reason enough to roll the dice on him as an SP2 in DK GPPs at his cheap salary.
Top Lineup Stacks
The Mets erupted for 13 runs last night. Tonight, they have a perfect matchup for staying hot. Patrick Corbin is having the worst year of his career and hasn't had a sub-4.50 ERA since 2019. Behind him, Washington's bullpen has stunk. Thus, the Mets should hang a crooked number on the scoreboard tonight.
- Road (Chase Field)
- Value: Low
- Risk: Low
- Game Type: Both
- Game Total/Moneyline: 9.0 Runs/ATL -175
The Braves have a cushy matchup against Humberto Castellanos and Arizona's bottom-five bullpen. Castellanos has had a 5.22 ERA in 39.2 innings this year. Meanwhile, Arizona's bullpen has had a bottom-five ERA.
- Home (Dodger Stadium)
- Value: Low
- Risk: Low
- Game Type: Both
- Game Total/Moneyline: Unlisted
The Pirates haven't officially announced a starter, but DraftKings is projecting Mitch Keller to toe the slab. Sadly, while Keller has been throwing harder this year, he hasn't improved his performance. The young righty has had a 6.05 ERA in 38.2 innings. Like the previous two touted stacks, the Dodgers will also benefit from facing a terrible bullpen.
- Pete Alonso is an excellent homer-chasing option tonight. Last night, he smacked his 13th dinger of the year. Additionally, Corbin has yielded 41 homers to 769 right-handed batters faced since last year.
- Francisco Lindor has been in a heater. The switch-hitting shortstop has had five multi-hit efforts in his last seven games.
- Jazz Chisholm flashed his upside last year, but he's breaking out in full this year. In 148 plate appearances, he's had a .320 OBP, .271 ISO, 140 wRC+, seven homers, and seven stolen bases.
- Edwin Rios is a high-strikeout hitter with top-shelf power. In his career, he's had a .266 ISO in 228 plate appearances versus righties.
- J.D. Davis is punt exposure to Corbin. At his salary, his 99 wRC+ in 2022 is good enough.
- Sadly, Franchy Cordero didn't reach base last night. Nevertheless, he's had a .333 OBP and 123 wRC+ in 2022.
Tuesday's Hitter Strategy
Attacking Corbin with a few of New York's hitters is smart. The Braves and Dodgers are also exciting offenses to invest in. Finally, Chisholm is a great pick at Coors Field against the struggling German Marquez.
