Players’ statistics are starting — starting — to be based on enough data to be meaningful at this stage of the season. Yes, a good day or two may result in a massive swing in a player’s overall numbers (such as for Victor Robles), but fantasy managers can at least allow themselves to not throw out a player’s number entirely because it is based on a small sample.
At the same time, managers have to remain careful about moving too far off of preseason expectations. Always remember that metrics and Statcast data help to show how good a player has been, but they aren’t necessarily predictive. With the cold weather and talk of a change in baseballs, players may be able to turn their entire season around relatively quickly as the weeks wear on.
Evaluating your trade options routinely is simply smart managing. Even if you are never able to consummate a deal, exploring every possible avenue to improve your team is a must for any fantasy manager.
The trade chart is updated every week to make sure you can accurately asses player values as they constantly change. So make sure to give it a look before making any deal.
