With the NFL Draft firmly in our rearview, dynasty draft season is in full swing. As we saw with the real life draft, this time of year also bring a ton of trade action. Our experts have checked in to provide their top trade targets and sell candidates for dynasty fantasy football leagues.
1. Which player are you buying now in dynasty leagues and why? Also, what are you willing to give up to get him?
“If there is a player that I would look to buy now in dynasty leagues, it is Robert Woods of the Tennessee Titans. While Woods turned 30 in April and suffered a torn ACL in Week 9 of last season, the former Ram is expected to make a full recovery by training camp and now finds himself as the main pass-catching option in Tennessee. During the NFL Draft, the Titans shocked the world when they traded A.J. Brown to the Eagles. The 105 targets Brown had last season are now up for grabs and Woods is primed to be the main beneficiary. As for what Woods is worth, I would offer a second-round pick in a rookie draft with the expectation that negotiations could lead to a late first-round pick. ”

“Elijah Moore is one of my favorite players to target in dynasty. The souped-up Jets slot receiver ranked as the fantasy WR2 over his last six games played before missing the rest of the season due to COVID-19. His 16.1 fantasy points per game would have ranked fifth had he continued the production for the remainder of the season. He averaged 12 PPR points per game in the season’s totality which puts him in the elite company of A.J. Brown, Deebo Samuel, JuJu Smith-Schuster, Michael Thomas, Chase Claypool, and Tee Higgins to accomplish the feat as second-round rookie WRs. Moore’s price is suppressed and attainable because of Garrett Wilson‘s addition, so there’s never been a more opportune time to take action. I would feel fine trading DeVonta Smith/Jerry Jeudy straight up or moving the 1.07-plus of rookie draft picks. ”

“I remain bullish on Michael Pittman, ranking him aggressively ahead of ECR (WR11 vs. WR18). Pittman is still a glaring trade target I’m seeking out in all leagues. Last year he was 19th in yards per route run, finishing immediately ahead of CeeDee Lamb and D.K. Metcalf in this metric (per PFF, minimum 50 targets). If the Colts surprise in the passing rate department, Pittman has top-five upside this season. I’d happily give up a 2023 first-round rookie pick for his services. ”

2. Which player are you selling now in dynasty leagues and why? Also, what kind of return are you looking for?
“The recently traded Marquise Brown is a player that I believe is worth selling in dynasty leagues. Now with the Arizona Cardinals, Brown looks to be in line for a notable target share during the first six games of 2022 while DeAndre Hopkins serves a PED suspension. Beyond that stretch, it is hard to imagine how consistent Brown will be. The likelihood of him replicating his 146 targets from last season seems far-fetched and the drama surrounding Kyler Murray is off-putting. In regards to a return for trading Brown, I would look to bank on the hype of Brown being a Cardinal and would request an early second or late first-round rookie pick ”

“Rookie fourth-round RB Dameon Pierce is getting way too much love in dynasty leagues at the moment. He’s being selected early in the 2nd rounds of rookie drafts with the idea being that he is the locked-and-loaded starter on a lackluster Texans RB depth chart. But how much work he will get remains to be seen. During GM Nick Caserio’s tenure with the Patriots, Stevan Ridley’s 87 carries were the most for any non-first-round rookie running back. Not to mention, there’s clearly an affinity with veteran running backs that the Texans can’t seem to quit. They force-fed David Johnson and Mark Ingram II among other veterans last season, despite having some younger players they could give reps to. Caserio’s post-draft press conference cited Pierce as someone that needs to earn a role and be a factor on special teams. If I already drafted Pierce, I might opt to flip him now for an early 2023 2nd-round rookie pick (better draft class) or straight up for a veteran RB like Kareem Hunt (likely to be traded), Chase Edmonds, Rhamondre Stevenson, or Damien Harris. ”

“I haven’t bought into the “trade for JuJu Smith-Schuster” banter previously, and I’m still on the outside looking in. Smith-Schuster has seen his yards per route run and yards after the catch per reception drop in each of the last four seasons (per PFF). This isn’t the type of production trend anyone should be looking to invest in. The Kansas City Chiefs’ one-year rendezvous has created a selling window with hype pockets still existing despite the team drafting Skyy Moore. Seek out these dynasty truther pockets and exploit them. I’d be looking for a late first-round 2023 rookie pick even if I have to add something to Smith-Schuster like a throw-in player or third-round rookie pick (2023). ”
