Week 2 Quick Grades
It feels like we just did this! Do I have deja vu?

The fast-paced fantasy baseball season is underway, and it’s already time to start thinking about your lineups for Week 2. You can find Quick Grades for the shortened Week 1 here.

It is still early, and we have minimal data on hitters for the 2022 season. It will be fun to follow how these grades stack up each week as the season marches on. Just as a reminder, here are the four factors that go into the Quick Grades.

Fantasy Baseball Streaming Pitchers: Week 2
Streaming is normally difficult at the start of a season because workloads are limited, but it’s an even bigger concern after a shortened spring training. Many pitchers may not reach the requisite five innings until they’ve regained their form.

Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire: C.J. Abrams, Alejandro Kirk, Tylor Megill
This first week of the fantasy baseball season is an especially tricky one in terms of how you play the waiver wire.

There are likely to be more breakout stars freely available for pickup this week than at any other point in the season, and it’s better to be too early on these players than too late. At the same time, you don’t want to throw out all the research you did to prepare for your draft and bail on a guy because he starts the season 0-for-8. There is a balance to be struck.

Fantasy Baseball Category Analysis: Connor Joe, Anthony Bender, Brandon Nimmo
These 10 players are all rostered in less than 50 percent of Yahoo leagues. Many will contribute handily across multiple categories, but their most substantial contributions will likely come in the category under which they are listed.

There is one player on this list that I am incredibly excited about, and I think it will become quite clear once you reach his section.

Two-Start Pitcher Lookahead: Week 2
Getting a leg up on the competition in any way possible is vital to success in fantasy baseball leagues. Planning ahead and playing the waiver wire well are two of the most effective ways to do that. With the “Two-Start Pitcher Lookahead,” the goal is to peer into the future two weeks and point out those lesser-owned (under 70%) starting pitchers that should be taking the mound twice for their clubs.

Injury Roundup: Jon Gray, Lucas Giolito, Blake Snell
One week into the season and the injuries continue to come in more than we’d like. Stay up to date with what is going on around the league with the latest notable updates below

Positive & Negative Regression: Freddie Freeman, Jorge Soler, Randy Arozarena
Welcome to the first edition of the positive/negative regression candidates column for the 2022 season! Each week, I’ll be digging into the underlying metrics to identify players who look primed to either cool off or heat up. This column aims to help you outsmart your league opponents and hopefully win your fantasy baseball league.

Fantasy Baseball: Risers and Fallers (4/7-4/10)
We are just four days into a new MLB season, and it is time to start digging in on some risers and fallers to keep an eye on or even add to your leagues right now. Some of these players had big weekends after most wrote them off during the draft season. On the other hand, some failed massively over the weekend, and situations do not look nearly as good as they did just a few days ago. As the season goes on, we will have more information to help target even more risers and fallers, but for now, let’s look at a few of the significant risers and fallers from the opening weekend of MLB action.

Fantasy Baseball Trade Value Chart: Week 2

If you did everything correctly, you should have left your fantasy baseball draft thinking that you have a shot at winning the championship. Sure, it will take some injury luck and perhaps one or more of your sleepers to have a breakout season. But you should feel like you have a contender.

But even so, that does not mean you should rest on your laurels. Championships are often decided by inches, and even the slightest edge you can potentially gain is worth pursuing. So, looking to the trade market early and often, even just to evaluate your options, is one of a fantasy manager’s most brilliant moves.
