Packers 2022 NFL Draft Rumors: Treylon Burks, Chris Olave, Skyy Moore

The 2022 NFL Draft rumor mill is in full swing with the big night just days away. While teams are certainly posturing to send up smoke screens ahead of the NFL Draft, some actual intentions can be gleaned by reading the tea leaves that are NFL rumors. We’re going to combine our expert consensus first-round mock NFL Draft, the latest picks from our NFL analysts, our team needs for each NFL squad, and the latest NFL rumors to try to determine what teams will do during the 2022 NFL Draft. Below, we’ll check and see if the Green Bay Packers will attempt to fill the Davante Adams’ sized hole they have on their roster.

Latest 2022 NFL Draft Rumors

Marco Pavoloni (@MAPavoloni) of The Rumor Mill Mock Draft provides the latest in the world of 2022 NFL Draft rumors.

The way the board seems to be falling, the top-tier receivers are likely to be gone by pick 22, with the possible exception of Treylon Burks, who, per Doug Kyed, has met with the Packers.

In early April, Jordan Schultz tweeted:

#Packers would love to find a true WR1 with one of their two 1st-rd picks (22 and 28) — and finally draft a WR in the 1st-rd during the Aaron Rodgers era.

Keep an eye on Jameson Williams, Treylon Burks and Jahan Dotson — all terrific players with immense skill sets.”

To which Peter Bukowski replied:

“I’m once again asking everyone to stop mocking bad athletes, smalls and olds to the Packers in the first round. No Dotson, Green, Wyatt, Lloyd etc. They’re just not going to pick those guys.”

So no Dotson then? Moving right along …

Per Brock Burgan, “Chris Olave mentions that he’s had a ‘lot’ of conversations with the #Packers

But I don’t see Olave being available at 22, so a trade up would be necessary.

The Packers have been also linked to Skyy Moore, George Pickens, and Christian Watson, but those feel more like second round options, though each of them have received some first round buzz.

That really only leaves Treylon Burks as the option who fits the Packers’ ideal size, athletic, and age profile.

On 4/21, Mel Kiper wrote:

“Speaking of Green Bay, I really think that’s the team to watch here, moving up for a wide receiver. Think about it: The Packers need a playmaker who could make an early impact for Aaron Rodgers . If they move into the top 10, they could get the top wideout in the class. Maybe it’s Wilson or London , or maybe they feel good about the medical reports for Williams, who tore his ACL in January but still could be the No. 1 receiver off the board.”

And here’s Albert Breer on 4/25:

“I think it could happen [Taking a receiver]—but I wouldn’t mark it down quite yet. I have heard them linked to Arkansas WR Treylon Burks, a bigger receiver who, like Deebo Samuel, you need to have a plan for, and could be there at 28. And if one of the top four falls to them, obviously, that’d be a consideration at 22.”

On Locked on Packers, Peter Bukowski has gone into detail on Treylon Burks’ fit in Green Bay, going so far as to say he would be the ideal pick at 22. In a beat-writer mock draft on the NFL Stock Exchange podcast earlier this month, he picked Burks at 22 for the Packers.

Justis Mosqueda, however, who appeared on the same podcast as a mock drafter for pick 28, disagreed with the Burks fit, and argued against taking him.

So what are the other options?

The Skyy moore buzz picked up around mid-April, but has since cooled. It’s looking more like Moore will end up in round two, and the Packers could pounce there.

My prediction?

I won’t be mocking a receiver to the Packers in the first round, but I was very close to doing so. To me, the only realistic round one options are Treylon Burks or a trade up for Jameson Williams or Chris Olave.

Consensus First-Round NFL Mock Draft

Our consensus mock draft views Burks as a strong favorite to go to Green Bay with their initial first-round pick. Christian Watson and Jahan Dotson are also receiving significant votes to land with the Packers.

Our analysts agree on this one as both have the Arkansas product joining Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay.

Freedman’s final mock draft:

22. Green Bay Packers: Treylon Burks (WR – Arkansas)
The Packers traded away Davante Adams and lost Marquez Valdes-Scantling in free agency, so they need to find a wide receiver for oft-disgruntled quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

With great size (6-2 and 225 pounds) and sufficient athleticism (4.55-second 40-yard dash), Burks could be Adams’ replacement. As a true junior last year, Burks was 66-1,104-11 receiving and 14-112-1 rushing in 12 games.

Erickson’s final mock draft.

22. Green Bay Packers: Treylon Burks (WR – Arkansas)
No Davante Adams. No Marquez Valdes-Scantling. No problem. Green Bay addresses its glaring hole at wide receiver by adding YAC god Treylon Burks.

The Arkansas Razorbacks wideout finished first in his class in yards per route run (3.57) while also ranking No. 1 in yards per route run when lined up outside (6.08) among all receivers. It’s an encouraging sign that a size-speed specimen delivered when aligned on the perimeter, as he spent 77% of his career in the slot.

His 8.5 yards after the catch rank 14th among 169 qualifying wide receivers (92nd percentile) over the past two seasons, which caters perfectly to the Green Bay offense.

The Pack finished third in total YAC in 2021.
